Daylight Driving Lights

Featured Replies

Hi there on my scout the handbook says that you can turn on or off the daylight driving lights via the fuse compartment.

My scout has a hole where the switch should be, is it possible to retro fit the switch to allow the operation.

Not any more.

Legislation was altered last year so that cars built after a certain date had to have them on.

If that's the case what's the date  and can they be set to be on perminantly.

The reason I ask is that when driving in bright sunlight you can't see the dials and LED's.

The Roomster that I have as a loaner for a few days has the Radio/Heating and LED's permanently on.

My car is a roomster Scout 2009.

Not quite right.  It is not cars BUILT after (I think) Feb 2012 but cars that are homologated (or whatever the word is!) after that date.  So all new designs (Citigo, Rapid, Octavia III) have to have them fitted but the Roomster, Fabia, Yeti made after that date do not - though manufacturers have chosen to fit them on some models.

At some point the current regs that allow the driver to turn them on/off will be removed and cars built after a certain date they will have to have them permanently activated.

The Roomster Scout doesn't have DRL's - hence no switch.

  • 8 months later...

Do you only get DRLs on a Roomster if it has foglights?

I don't think so, my Roomster Scout 62 Plate has fog light but no DRLs.
