Problems/Faults

Featured Replies

I think most post codes in Europe are numeric only, so maybe Skoda just didn't bother considering the UK particular case. You'll just have to live with it, I suppose.

I hope your problem gets sorted quickly.

  • May I suggest you either have this deactivated by someone with VCDS or adjust the right mirror first I'm mainly just pointing out that yours is not broken and its meant to do that.

  • the button on the door pillar for the alarm is not illuminated. it should be red as standard and amber when activated So don't know if it is even deactivating the  interior sensors may have to lock

I have an issue with the postcode lookup as when you press the postcode button it starts off with numbers, but NO postcodes in the UK start with numbers they always start with letters. So, WHY the extra keypress.

Bit confused - are you able to generate a UK postcode? Presumably with you mentioning an extra key press there is a way or am I misunderstanding your message?

Hope you get the issue with the whirring noise sorted quickly.

when you choose to use postcode, the first box that appears is the numeric box. so, the extra key press is to bring up the keybaord to type in for example NW and then you have to press the number key to type in 9.

the UK way should be to bring the letter keyboard up straight away.

With regards to the whirring, I know the technician and he said not to worry it is most likely a loose pipe. they could have looked at it sooner than a week monday, but I need a loan car.

One of the reasons I purchased from a dealer (who strangely has now been taken over) was so that I had a rapour for situations like this.

the technician and the salesman all live within about 5 minutes of my house, with the dealers being 25 mins away.

I'm not sure if these are faults or features.

I had an 2.0D Elegance on demo for a long weekend and managed to put a few hundred miles on it.

Cruise control. Pressing the clutch doesn't disengage cruise. For example, spot a hazard upahead, dip the clutch and drop a gear to start to slow and the car surged forward as it re-engaged cruise.

I'm about to order a vRS and have been told this option is standard while cruise isn't. Cruise is much more useful to me.

Unless they've changed things on the mkIII it's the brake that disengages the cruise, not the clutch. HTH

Both brakes and clutch should disengage cruise

Both brakes and clutch should disengage cruise

not on the mkiii.  Only the brake will disengage cruise and the clutch will after 30 seconds of pressing it down.

I'd like to see the clutch disengage cruise control on a DSG car.

would be an interesting sight!  its the phantom clutch that Ill probably be pressing for the next two weeks after mine turns up!

Problem with my car after a week is the lane assist has packed up (see my other thread). SUK are advising the dealer.

I know. I was just saying that both should do.

Not my business, I know it's not!!  :)

But it's simply a friendly suggestion which would make this topic more aligned with the ideas of its title "Problems/faults", which

at least I  :nerd:  interpret as intended to help us all find out about other's similar problems and faults.

No, don't kick my butt or cut my throat...  :wait:  I'm not trying to tell others what to do in someone else's topic, it's just an idea...

Otherwise I still want to report the "fault" with that missing button for a a good cup of coffe!  :coffee:

My dealer has a button for a good cup of coffee, I just wish he had a button that let's me have my new car!!!!!!!!

"Good things come to those who wait"... I know, been there, felt the frustartion growing and growing.

But THEN, one day you feel as happy as I felt last week when picking it up and taking it for the first ride!

I know!  :)

Hopefully soon!! Fingers crossed for you!

(This reply contradicts what I asked for earlier today... Sorry...  )

Door handle on driver's side is not a good fit. It works OK, but there is a gap between the moving part of the handle and the door. The part of the handle you pull sits proud of the rest of the handle if that makes any sense. Otherwise a terrific car. Octavia VRS Combi TSI, Race Blue

Can you post a pic of the fault?

That's by design. Not a very good one if ask me (I don't like it either), but that's intended.

More faults.

7. Electric seat memory won't save seat set in the lowest possible possition. When saved setting is fetched, seat is raised one cm or so.

8. The setting to turn off the display after 10 s inactivity is reset on restart of the car.

9. When opening the boot lid (Estate) while the car is wet (e.g. after rain), water runs down into the car, soiling whatever's stored in the back.

If I remember correctly the solution to the rain running into the boot is to fit a flexible door bump strip around the rear windscreen.

Not the most elegant of solutions but it works.

Seriously? Wasn't this the most complained bug in the last two hatchback designs? How can they keep repeating the same error over and over?

It seems they standardised the estate to match too, then :)

After 3 months my passenger door is finally being sorted by Skoda...

There was a feint crease running down the door about 3cm in from the rear edge, once I'd seen it I couldn't miss it. Dealer agreed Skoda didn't, they spent a while waiting for inspectors and reports, finally I phoned Skoda customer services who, to be fair, have speeded things up and kept me informed.

water does gather between the seals on doors as others have said.

I have a comparatively rare (on here) 1.2tsi combi. I have been impressed with the engine and economy - I was a little concerned before ordering... no faults.

My car also has the following standard features:

Trim rattles,

Water trapped by door seals,

Clunky gear change 1st - 2nd. and occasionally reverse.

I also have the following additional safety feature:

Twitchy handling, (as discussed on my other thread)

I've also got the front doors holding water after rain or washing, has anyone had this sorted yet, what was the fix? Going to leave mine until the first service at 10k which will be due early November. Build quality definitely not as solid as the Superb II, shame, I hate rattles!

It's not a fault though, the mkII does the same. The water just runs out when you open the door or drive off. It's a none issue.

That's as long as it does not overflow into the car or cause rust around the sill in the long term.
