Key code in manual?

Featured Replies

if you can get it to me it's £80 for a new 3 button remote supplied, cut & programmed. If you can't get the car moving I can come to you & program the transponder in your new key you've ordered from Skoda & do new remote at the same time which would be £120 in total with traveling costs

I usually head over to somewhere in Lancs at some point most weeks so if you're not in a rush i can tie it in with another job which would save you some brass as you'd be splitting my traveling costs with other customer. I'm actually going to be in Dukinfield this Friday but not sure if you'll have the key from Skoda by then

Sounds good, it'll have to wait till after the 15th anyhow ( pay day! ).

Steven.

no probs. I've got another customer with an X5 in Manchester that's away until the 10th. So waiting to hear when he's free for me to come over

Intrigued as to how you have a 'spare' transponder!

If you're lucky the ECU will have it registered (programmed in) and you can start the car with a dumb key and with the transponder held near the ignition switch for a few seconds. (You don't have to keep it there). To make a flip-key you'll need a blank cut from a photo, a flip housing with the remote c/l gadget and a space for your ID48 transponder to sit.

If your transponder isn't recognised by the ECU then you'll need to hook up to VCDL but what you do after that I've no idea. The ultimate security code is something referred to as the SKC - stored in the ECU. There must be a way of telling the ECU you have no transponder and asking - begging even - for it to kindly recognise a new one!

BTW the cheapest (and therefore the best) HAA blank cutting service (from photos) I've found is from 2277Malcolm on ebay.

He doesn't need to get anybody to cut him a key from a photo when somebody can cut a blade at the same time as extracting the SKC & programming him a key. Which is already being sorted ;)

Well after numerous "it'll be here tomorrow"s from Skoda. Guess what, apparently it'll be here tomorrow!

We shall see...

Steven.

i'm actually going to be over your way tomorrow afternoon. Got a TT key to do in Darwen in the afternoon

Right, got my uncoded key from Skoda. Nothing in the manual except what I think maybe the SKU in a semi-transparent plastic clip lock type thing.

However I did find my original key!

So, what's the cheapest way to get the new key coded? Is it a VAG-COM job?

Steven.

doesn't have to be VAGCOM as long as it programs VAG keys. There's a few different bits of kit that can program these keys. The SKC should be a 4 digit code.

If it's not the SKC that you've got & it's the actual key cutting code then you'll need somebody that's able to extract the SKC from the car

Yeah I think its the SKC then in the plastic thing, cool. What does the key cutting code look like? There's  an 8 digit number in there too.
