GTi + DSG = WOW

Featured Replies

Just been for a drive (about 20mls) in a bud's new Golf GTi with the DSG gearbox, and WOW :thumbup: , if the new vRS is going to be anything like as good, it is going to be GREAT :D:D . The GTi was on the optional 18ins wheels, and even on the pockmarked and rutted D roads we have here in the south of Ireland, ride was firm but cushioned  . I am half sorry now that l have a new Superb 130 on order :( , but for any of you who are waiting for the new vRS, ye have a treat in store :D:thumbup:

It's excellent isn't it!!

I drove one with 17's in white, and thought it looked great, so I expect one wearing the 18's looks awesome!

Did you keep your foot to the floor when changing up?

The DSG is great. Really suits the 2.0 diesel. Not tried a 2.0t one yet but worked nice in the 3.2 TT.

Apparently you do need to keep your foot planted for the 'best' experience - but what the hell, I don't mind doing that

I kept mine planted and it made a nice pop out of the exhaust with each gearchange!!!

Lovelly!

The Golf GTI V is a lovely car - apparently it has some handling traits of the Mk2 like cocking up a rear wheel when cornering quickly. Its just a pity it costs so much, but then its a massive step up from the Mk IV (and probably to be fair, all of the Mk IV based cars).

Just looked at the prices for a MkV GTi

For a decent spec one with DSG, leather, metallic paint + a few more toys it would cost

Its a premium brand, and it's got premium stuff in that car too..

How much does the Octy vRS cost?
