That'll be fine then.

I made sure my hole was exactly the right size with approx. 2mm tolerance, then a dab of black sikaflex around it did the job.

Sweet, il purchase myself some of that sealant then il give it a go. Tolerance shouldn't be an issue used to working to a lot less being an engineer haha. Going to wait for air box to arrive dont fancy butchering the one on the car incase i f*@k it up. Thanks mate appreciate the help

That plus a pipercross filter makes a noticeable difference to torque. If you need any guidance let me know.

How does one simply know this?

Have you a rolling road of before and after? Or just internet 'knowledge'?

On a normally aspirated car it makes a noticeable difference. On a forced induction car, not so much. I've done dyno tests on a rally car in a past life, I've seen it first hand. :-)

I can also tell that this modification of the airbox makes a difference...the car is a little bit tourqier. I have tried to put on some other cars simmalar mods, but the result was alway some better intake sond and thats it. But on the Fabia i was suprised :)

Btw Adam also a nice car mate! Like the seats they look great!

Had a dreadful weekend with the car, had to change passenger door as someone had dinked it when was parked outside my mates. So got new door Saturday same colour changed it over. Was having problems with lock so stripped down again and the door slammed shut with the door card, and the metal piece with all the loom off so no electrics connected up now its deadlocked with nothing on the door expect handle and lock mech. Absolutely devastated, and to top it off windscreem has cracked. Luckily mates a locksmith so hes going to dort the door tomorrow, just hope its back soon feel lost without my car. Been a awful weekend. I hope the crack holds off til payday as im skint and can't afford a replacement until then :( soon as one problem is sorted another rises from nowhere. Its just never ending.

I feel sorry for you mate. But heads up, everything is gonna be ok and fixed. We all have our up-s and down-s when it comes down to cars.

That is true mate. Hopefully have it back later today :) and I really hope it wont need much more money spending on it. I need a higher wage then I wouldnt struggle getting it sorted properly :)

Just a quick update nothing special, decided to clean throttle body today, wow it was filthy didnt take any pics of it tho. Massive difference since cleaning, idles a lot steadier and revs dont famce up and down anymore. Got carried away and decided to tart rocker cover up a bit aswell not best of jobs but will do for now :)

Hi t1salai, im not 100% sure myself yet as ive not done it. Best person to speak to would be Chris Coates or Saks, they have both done the mod and both swear by it. Sorry im not much help mate

It works.

Better pull from the low end, at the side effect (or benefit if you like it!) of a more bwaaaaarrrrp sound.

Can only agree with Chris :)

I still havent got round to doing this one! What do you do with the smaller tube that feeds out from the original intake?

Not an update but was having a mess about on photoshop and this is what I came out with :) would love to own a set of these Borbet A's by for my favourite rims.

Started off as this...

Then ended up as this, if only it looked like this now :)...

Fabiafront_zps06af3a0e.jpg

Not the best at photoshopping but not to bad in my opinion :) I really need to get myself some of these rims badlyyyy

Thanks Jonezy

Not bad, nice work in PS. And the rims defenetly would look grate on the car  :D

You could paint the grill pretty cheaply - would improve the look no end, just get some plastidip on there.
That fly-eye wrap for the headlights is cheap too, no?

Think I'm gonna hold off doing anything to mine until I can afford a VRS, just gonna look after mine and make sure it holds its value when it comes to selling!

Have a go at wrapping the grille mate, cheap abd lasts infinitely longer, just a little more effort which i think is a good thing. Flyeyes is good from far away but looks a little crap from close up, personal opinion but lamin-x does look better :)

  • Author

Yeah im going to paint the grill when I get payed and order some lamin-x for lights. Just the rims il need to save for. And yeah il eventually move to a vrs but as all parts are same il just swap everything over before I sell up :)
