What service do i need?

Featured Replies

I got my Greenline SE new  in March 12. It had the first 3 services done for free at the factory set fixed 10k intervals. It was then put on to variable servicing. It has come up for a service now at 48.5k. I've just spoken with Mitchell Skoda, Cheshire Oakes and they inform me it needs an inspection service with pollen filter and brake fluid. They have quoted me £322 for this inc VAT.

Can anybody confirm this is the expected service & cost?

Also I was expecting the brake fluid to last longer than 17 months!

Thanks

I believe brake fluid should be changed at three years then every two after that.

Are you sure the fluid was changed on the last service as IIRC this bit is vague as it says something like 'if required' so unless it says so on your previous service it probably wasn't done. The cost looks ok to me for a variable service from a main dealer. HTH

My first variable is due next week and ive been quoted £212.83 by main dealer in Yeovil. That includes pollen filter, so it looks like your paying £100+ for brake fluid change which should be changed at three years old then every 24 months. If it was done 17 months ago im sure it will be fine for another year if want to save a bit of money.

Just an update. I have spoken to the dealer (Mitchell, Cheshire Oaks) and they have agreed the brake fluid should not be changed. The new price is now £266.29 for a 'Interval inspection service' with the pollen filter included. I have since been quoted £190.69 by Skoda Auto in Liverpool inc pollen filter. The free servicing at fixed intervals of 10k seems to have thrown the service routine/pattern out slightly.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I paid £195.00 for first variable service last month at Robinsons Skoda, Norwich

The national pricing policy applies to vehicles following a fixed servicing regime only. However it would be worth asking the dealership if they will offer the same deal for variable service intervals. Mine did.

The small print in your link:

This offer applies to vehicles following a fixed servicing regime only. Customers whose vehicles are on a flexible servicing regime can ask their participating ŠKODA authorised repairer about changing over to a fixed servicing regime if they believe this will better suit their needs. Offer applies to retail customers only.

Ye he confirmed today fixed priced servicing is for fixed intervals 10k/12 months - not variable. Thanks.

D'oh getting myself confused. Just re-read op again and noticed the switch to variable.
