2011 octavia Vrs - columbus head unit (firmware issue)

Featured Replies

Hi guys im new to the forum.

Been reading about unlocking your columbus head unit to be able to let the family watch movies on long trips. I could be in the wrong area or someone could have already posted but please forgive me as im on a mobile and cant find everything..

Issue is i dont seem to be able to get into the "Service menu" i goes to it but only comes up with AM or FM nothing else. and when insert the disc with the software on it it will load then come to a menu with 010306 SWL error. Is there something im doing wrong or do i have the firmware wrong?

Thanks Heaps!

Once again sorry if i have put in wrong area or someone have already posted this.

Sounds like you are on an older firmware as the setup menu needs enabling with VCDS on those. What firmware were you trying to load and what does the sticker say on the Columbus in terms of a part number etc.??

Adam

Have a look in the sticker for a 9/10 digit code starting 1Z0 or 3T0 and also the 'HW' and 'SW' versions and then we can advise further.

I know upgrading 3T0 units to either 38xx or 40xx firmware will activate the video in motion (VIM) and also the hidden menu.

Adam can advise on 1Z0 units.

Using VIM is illegal though, even if its for 'the children in the back'.

It may be that the firmware you have is on a CD that your Columbus doesn't like. Burn it slow and I've found cheap media work.
