How durable are the leather seats?

Featured Replies

There's no doubt the leather quality/construction is of  lower standard than in my two previous Golfs, but I'm content. Both Golfs only had real leather seat facings too, BTW.

Most all BMWs, Mercs and Audis only have real leather facings too.  The only ones that get full leather are when you specifically tick the optional full leather packages.  And then we are not talking £1,800 or so as on a Yeti or adding leather to your SE 3-series, we are talking thousands of pounds as on the more exclusive "individual" tailoring options.  Eg: BMW Individual or Audi Exclusive.

It's no worse than the standard fit leather you get on Audi's and BMW's etc. And it seemed to hold up well over the 3 and a bit years we had our Elegance. I think I treated them twice in that time with Autoglym leather cleaner and conditioner, but they looked fine at resale time.

Not the greatest quality leather seats but adequate.

I do find though that I have to be very careful dropping the rears seats down as there are no stowage pockets for the seat belt fixings and they seem to have a habit of making indentations in the leather even though I carefully move them out the way when folding, they seem to sneak back in between the seats, (Grrr!)

Not a problem with my last yeti which had very durable cloth seats.

Yup I agree on this one...  I always go to pains to move them away and when I come back from camping and fold the seat back up there are the two indents in the leather.  On my A2 (which also had removable rear seats) the seat belt fixings were lower and level with the seat face so they never touched the seat back when folded.  Definitely something to add to the "can do better" lest for Yeti II.

Glad its not just me!

What makes it worse is that SWMBO has a mini countryman cooper D 2WD with gorgeous classy brown leather seats with white piping.

The seat belt clips all fit beautifully into little pockets so no creases, much to SWMBOs amusement. Ho Hum!

PS: The countryman is a great car with a funky inertior but even SWMBO has to admit - the yeti is much nicer to drive!
