Exhaust system

Featured Replies

So is this fair? I guess you could tot up the costs of the missing gear on the MK3 (£180 for cruise but no simple way to re-add the missing aircon feed).

Then you could work out how much the options included in the MK3 would cost if you had them specified as options on a MK2.

Missing on MK3 vRS

  • Air con into Jumbo box
  • Cruise control
On MK3 but not MK2 vRS

  • DAB
  • Bluetooth
  • Rear Sensors
  • Xenons
  • MFSW
  • USB
  • Storage for rear parcel shelf
  • Lane assist
  • Auto wipers / lights (thanks Rob-vrs21)

I might have missed something  :wonder:

The 2 does have storage for the rear parcel shelf, it's slides down the rear of the rear seats. It does on the hatch.

  • Nope.         Step awaaaay from the crazy man ;-)

in which case... what's wrong with having only 1 exhaust?  Is more=better?

It's more to the point as I have said before, if its there it works, if it not working it has no place being there. The more I think about it it wouldn't surprise me if the vrs diesel shares the same exhaust as the 150hp, so that's why they don't make it a duel outlet.

Isn't there auto-dim rear view mirror standard now?

If you're right, I'm going to kick myself, the amount of times I've removed the shelf to fit a load in and left the shelf at home!

If someone can confirm that I'll edit the list.

Dodgy i only found it about 3 months ago when i read about the mk3 saying you could store the rear shelf in the boot at the back of the seat. so i gave it try and it worked, i;ve had my car since july 2008 lol.

Im very disappointed in Škoda cutting costs with mk3 over the mk2.....

.....pahahahahhahaha get yourselfs off

I wouldn't mind the diesel having an exhaust on just one side....... so long as it was a nice looking backbox with two chrome/stainless pipes exiting the bumper (like on the mk2).

The problem here lies in the fact that there is a naff looking taxi-spec backbox jammed at a funny angle into a trim-finisher, with a fake unit on the opposite side. The fake side actually looks better imho.

When standing next to the car you only have to bend down a little to see the taxi-box on display. I suspect other drivers following behind you would see it clearly.

If you don't care what others think and you're happy with how it looks then great, but personally i wouldn't be keen to say the least.

Jesus, you're right! Went out last night and couldn't believe my eyes! My parcel shelf won't fully stow away because I have the optional roller blind fitted to mine, had I known that the parcel shelf stows, I wouldn't have had the roller blind fitted from new. I should know this stuff! This is my 4th (going on 5th) Octavia

Like you, I was only made aware of the parcel shelf on the MK3 after seeing one of the simply clever videos from Skoda, I thought what a great feature, on long family holidays you could fill the boot like an estate!

There used to be a MK2 tips and tricks thread, wonder if this is mentioned in there?

More power and increased fuel economy... On the diesel at least.

Definitely more power, time will tell with the economy I hope :)

A lot of that is on Irish spec mkll ;)

There's lots of good stuff extra, I think they have cut some costs with the interior trim / plastics, mk2 seems better in that respect. But that is of course subjective.

Maybe they can't afford £27000 so are jealous and finding reasons to keep the mk2....

probably not the case, IMO most rational people wouldnt pay £27k for a Skoda Octavia, that sort of money would buy you alot of nice nearly new premium metal.

The Blacklines do however have most of whats quoted there toy wise that counts inc. Sat nav and leather and cruise, appreciate its a run out but even still given that a TDI DSG estate cost me just over 20k makes the new one look quite poor value comparably IMO

Indeed. If nothing else, its Superb Elegance territory, rather than Octavia SE with knobs on.

Though from the comparisons people are posting, the VRS has gained a lot from 2 -> 3. Its still poor value for money compared to the old one, but its not that bad compared to current rivals.

You can't buy a Blackline new now, get over it. No point comparing, I think the specifications speak for themselves. I'm getting a bit tired of people moaning about how poor value the Octavia is, even saying things like "people are stupid to pay this much money" etc. That's quite insulting to the dozens of people who have declared they've ordered one.

The Blackline was a bargain - but it's over now.

Not available brand new but personally I would take a 4K 13 plate Blackline and bank the 6/7K that you would save
