Nothing new there. In the past they've had finance offers that only applied to the less popular models - petrol superbs for example.

I suppose that'll mean there won't be as many vrs's on the road as there could have been if the offer had continued.

PCP deals were invented to keep people interested in changing their car every 3 years or so.

...or invented by the industry for the industry so that they could raise the purchase price substantially and still make sales while wages have stagnated?

Try borrowing £25,000 as a personal loan from a bank for a new VRS - difficult.

yes absolutely mate totally agree that is another valid reason for PCP.

I'm just getting my head around this finance stuff but as far as I can tell the only time where the mileage would come into effect is if you didn't want to keep the car and the GFMV is higher than the market value (unlikely).

Otherwise just trade it in before the end of the deal, or pay off the GFMV and keep the car.

Why would you want to hand it back at the end of the deal, getting lower than market value and now with an excess milage to pay because you set it lower than your intended milage?

I have no idea why anyone would hand it back and pay any mileage charges. It's totally bonkers. I've always had plenty of equity left in the car when the balloon payment becomes due. Even We buy any car will beat your balloon payment. My GFMV for my Superb was £8500 and I had done another 13K miles on top. I still got £12,500 for it selling to a dealer... i'd have lost out on over £4K if i'd have handed it back.

Just ordered mine, VRS Estate TDI,Manual box, Candy White, Options Black Design Pack, Sunset Glass, Winter Pack & Canton Sound System Total price £ 25180, with discount i paid £23651 a saving of £1529 options add upto £1120 alone so basically got them free and £400 discount on car just a long wait now!

Did you also get 0% pcp?

Yes 0% pcp over 42 months, £3500 dep & £219 a month.

Sounds like a interesting package Daz, which dealer?

Alex Lawrie in Liverpool, yes i travelled from South Yorks but well worth it i think, excellent test drive in the manual version i wanted not dsg like local dealer, had loads of questions about options salesman very easy going no pressure i was sold by the car in a word fantastic just a waiting game now.

I have also just had a quote from Alex Lawrie (via carwow) for a 5dr hatch in solid colour with cruise as the only extra. Price £22018 OTR (list £23440 so just under 6% off) and its £810.30 down followed by 35 x £281.60...final payment £11351.70 ... this at the 0% deal with free servicing if I place an order before Dec31st.

Quick question - can you put a cherished No plate on a PCP car (which is effectively a lease deal)?

I was thinking of changing my current vRS next year when it's 3 yr old but the huge price increase and waiting time is not making it very attractive. At £25K it's getting a very expensive car and there's lots more out there in this price range.

Yes

Alex Lawrie are by far the most competitive just now imo. UK skoda retailer of the year last few years to if i heard right.

Yes they seem to be, I ended up using their offer to get a local dealer down in price. Saved me having to go all the way to Liverpool (178 miles)

None local to me would even try to come close or discount at all. Still the service from Alex Lawrie has been top notch so far.

Yes you can, but the dealer/lease company will most likely want to retain the private plate when you return it.

Not if you own the plate they can't.

yep, the plate shouldn't be a problem on PCP, in my experience. I had mine on a Yeti a few years back and the dealer even sorted the retention for me when I handed the car back. ( with a suitable payment of course)

Lightcliffe Skoda, (where I test drove the car), in Warrington have matched the Alex Lawrie deal for me but only having shown them the deal in black and white !!

I've been into Lightcliffe Skoda this afternoon and the salesman couldn't have been less interested. At a matched price I'd rather deal with Alex Lawrie Who were courteous with no pressure.

Not if you own the plate they can't.

That is not strictly correct. If you hand back the car it must be returned with a registered number plate. Re-registering the car with a 63 or 14 plate is of course possible, but servicing documents and the original V5C will show that the car has been re-registered and this will make it potentially more difficult to sell. Do not forget that although you own the plate, the Finance company owns the car, and they want it to retain it's value. Many lease companies exclude changing of the Vehicle Registration (in the same way some exclude fitting winter tyres & tuning boxes), so unless you register a private plate when new, you cannot always add one or change back to standard afterwards.

How much above the GFV do most of you guys get offered at trade up time?

Nobody knows for sure how much the VRS's will depreciate over the coming 3 years. Assume that you will get GFV, plus whatever discount the dealer offers against a new car and you will not be disappointed.
