Best vRS MKIII deals so far

Featured Replies

yeah I know but only the options stuff, I was only guessing on the 'delivery times' thread about the options discount but as it appears to be far more important to be accurate about numbers on this thread I thought i'd better double check my original figures!  People take discounts very seriously you know...

  • Hi there, I managed to get approx. £1k off list and got a good price for my diesel octy vrs fl hatch.

;) yes they do :P

Well, I think I've done OK (Feel free to correct me ;) ) - Had to use a car allowance of £440/mth (before tax), 15K/yr.... Ended up buying from local dealer (Abergele, north wales... Lightcliffe), although I did also bounce off two other dealers (Letchworth and Liverpool)

-  vRS Diesel Estate, Candy White

- Black pack, Tinted Windows, Cruise, Ahmundsen Stereo, +1yr Warranty (in case I decide to keep her or sell privately ;) )

- 1K deposit, no P/Ex, 0% PCP deal + servicing

- Got £1400 off list and GAP thrown in, works out about £350 a month

Ah well.... looks like others got better deals but I'm happy lol

The dealer(s) Carfile use are currently providing 14% off Ocativa III list prices for cash sales, or 5% off if you take the 0% PCP plus 3 years free servicing options.

Stock VRS TSI Estate List Price: £23,790

Carfile Cash Price: £20,560

Carfile PCP Price £22,601 / GFV = £10,350 / Deposit £2000 / 35x £293

Stock VRS TDI Estate List Price: £24,060

Carfile Cash Price: £20,770

Carfile PCP Price £22,855 / GFV = £11,600 / Deposit £2000 / 35x £265

Delivery is quotes as 3 months. GFV assumes 8,000 miles/pa.

  • 2 months later...

Went in to a dealership today to get a quote on a vRS TDI solid paint (undecided on whiten or red), black pack, winter pack, space saver and colour maxi dot. Have a PX and annual mileage of 12000 and a finance term of 42 months.

This was the deal offered.

Vehicle £23,945

GFV £10,327.50 (10,000 miles = £10,797.30 on 42 month in case anyone is interested)

PX £2,400 (not pleased with that but I could always sell privately I suppose)

Deposit £3,600

Total deposit £6,000

Monthly payment £185.78

I tried to get a discount and the sales executive point blank refused and I tried quite hard.

Going to another dealer tomorrow to see if they are more flexible.

And it's a manual.

Try the carwow site, I would think you could do considerably better than that.

Reading some of the comments in here and either some of you are fibbing or dealers are selling cars at a loss! There is little to no movement in price on Octy vRS and with a 5 month waiting list, why would dealers offer discount? They can just wait for the next person to walk through the door and pay asking price for it. But giving more than 3% discount with PCP is financial suicide from the dealers point of view

Actually, not always, with potential bonuses for unit numbers sold, targets etc. I certainly wasn't fibbing, but if anyone wants to pay full whack for their car, its no problem to me. The carwow deals were certainly exactly as reported. 6% discount, 0%PCP and 3 years servicing were defintely on offer. Obviously its nearly 3 months on from my deal, but I'd be amazed if people couldn't get decent deals still.

THAT IS NOW, NOT 3 MONTHS AGO AT INTRODUCTION. WHEN SKODA  UK  and Dealers wanted visibility in the Marketplace.

Current supply and demand /waiting list/delivery extension changes all that.

Well I went to two more dealers today and both offered a discount.

Deal 2:

Vehicle £23,600 (-£345 off)

GFV £10,327.50

Mileage 12,000

Term 42 months

Deposit £6000

Monthly payment £177.36

Deal 3:

Vehicle £23,491.10 (-£453.90) ~2% off vehicle price.

The rest is the same

Monthly payment £174.70

I'm waiting on both dealers to give me a guaranteed value on my PX but impressions were it should be more than the previous one I had.

Both dealers said that they have 8% normally but as they have to cover the 6% for the APR they only have 2% to play with.

I imagine that purchases earlier in the year would give better discounts as the volume bonus is based on sales at the point of purchase, not order, so for me as there are now 18 week build times that would be April. I guess their annual volume bonus could be either the new year or end of tax year, either way my sale would not qualify as it would come later.

On another note, the second dealer I went to mentioned that he's heard the 0% might be continueing in to 2014 but they might be dropping the free servicing.

I guess if they can not make the cars to supply demand then it makes sense for them to up the price...personally I was hoping they would get cheaper.

Difficult to forecast accurately volume take up . hence stock built up prior to launch to buffer demand. However, individual spec demands also difficult to predict.

Not a pure science.

That being said, manufacturers will maximise margins if demand / supply ratio works in their favour.

There is a fine line though before punters go elsewhere.

Check out carwow.co.UK, discount of 6% and 0% finance or a discount of 12% for a cash sale, through Alex Lawrie main dealer in Liverpool. It has been suggested on here that dealers have 14% margin but the finance costs them 6%.

In your case though your PX may reduce the potential for a massive discount as they have to cover their backsides on your car.

I'm in the process of trying carwow, had my first offer of £56 off vehicle price. I hope I get some better ones!

I had a similar qoute too, £54 was my discount I believe. Others came in at £900-1500 though, be patient

5-6% is certainly possible (including 0% finanace & free servicing), but many dealers are understandably reluctant to offer it for cars in such demand. The best thing to do is know what you want before you enter the dealership and give them a take it or leave it offer. Going armed with other quotes (Carfile, Nationwide-Cars  etc) will only help. Ask for 6%, see what they offer and walk away if you are not happy.

Ok, u got me, I'm lying, I didn't get just over 6%, 0% pcp and free servicing.

many dealers are understandably reluctant to offer it for cars in such demand.

To be fair though, 5+ month waiting list is always "there" for better part of a decade now (I ordered my 2FL in Dec 09 to collect in May 10) and it never stopped Skoda offering decent discounts. I also wouldn't mistake production inefficiencies for rising demand. In terms of UK sales 2013 so far is not particularly successful year for Skoda either. I suppose financially it's not going to be bad year, for any of the top 20 makers, but after alienating budget and fleet sectors, Skoda cars are outsold massively by both Kia and Hyundai (separately) and its UK market share is comparable to that of Fiat, which sells what - six year old 500 model and occasional strange looking new Panda?

Anyway, back on the topic though. Bonuses on Skoda dealer sales were traditionally number based. So in the previous years we used to get really good deals as it was in their best interest to sell as many cars as pos, regardless of queue and margins. I don't know what changed, but you have to remember this - when you haggle for 10% discount on a £23-25k car rather than £16k car Octavia used to be just a year ago, you are usually fending the dealer for savings of £2.5k while the salesman is standing his ground for a gain of mere £350 at their margins. Perhaps sometimes they need a friendly reminder of that fact.

Putting a large deposit down on a pcp is crazy. You lose nearly all your equity. Small deposit ie 2k. Bank the rest of the px cheque and forget about it till it's time to change.

Spot on

I appreciate the low deposit arguement, the only reason I want to put down so much up front is so I can get my monthly payment down as I don't know how my circumstances are going to change in the next year/2 (got married 3 months ago so you know what usually comes next).

I have had some more deals through CarWow.

-£526 off vehicle price (79 miles away)

-£996 off vehicle price (81 miles away)

-£1467 off vehicle price (136 miles away)

Couple of questions for you all.

1. With new vehicle deals do they tend to give you any fuel to drive off the forecourt with?

2. Has anyone used WeBuyAnyCar and had comparable/better offers from them compared to dealers?

surely the lower the deposit, will mean higher monthly payments

Option 3 - Im traveling 160 miles for mine. Havent asked for fuel yet but I will. (I bet its the same dealer)

Webuyanycar - expect a bit more from the main dealer, approx £250-£500 imo

Full tank on pick up, never had too ask.

Dealer deal on PX, far better than WEBUYANYCAR.

Thought on Skoda PCP the deposit was up to 30% .
