Best vRS MKIII deals so far

Featured Replies

Where are you based mate? I tried a Scottish dealer who said outright no to discounts

I got almost 900 off the cost of my order plus a guaranteed px price that was only a few hundred quid off the price I paid for my fabia 18months ago. (Buying with 0% pcp)

I tried the Edinburgh dealers and whilst willing to "deal" to an extent they didn't have the car I wanted to test drive.

In the end I went to Simpsons Skoda in Preston. I thought I'd be at a disadvantage being so far away but the dealer knew I would just go with the Edinburgh dealers if I didn't get a good deal so he only had one chance whilst I was there.

Swmbo was good as well - was in a bad mood and snapped at him. ;)

  • Hi there, I managed to get approx. £1k off list and got a good price for my diesel octy vrs fl hatch.

Thanks mate :)

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a new Vrs hatch using the PCP deal, the spec i wanted came to about £24500 including options, had the test drive and all was good, got the figures from the dealer and attempted to talk discounts to be told there was no chance of a discount as the dealers are in fact paying for the 0% pcp deal and that was there margin gone.

I checked carfile when i got home to find a price of a little over £20000 without options, about £3000 less than list,i take it this deal will be for a cash purchase.

my question is this should i be expecting a discount on the full price even if i take the PCP deal?

If i am does anyone know any dealers willing to do a deal as my local dealers seem pretty confident they don't have to discount a penny!!

thanks for your help

Andy

There are loads of threads covering this Andy. Even this one, which states that if you shop around you can get about 5% off and still get the 0% deal.

Thanks for that,

Afraid I'm very British and don't like to haggle, may be worth going back with the carfile quote and testing the water!!,are some dealers more accommodating than others?

Cheers

Andy

WOW......though at the moment i will  A: wait for the prices to go down a bit and B: for all those little faults to be ironed out..... It is a nice set of wheels though....

Must admit I'm quite prepared to wait until the deal is right i'm in no rush to buy, just not used to dealers refusing to deal!!,even with 0% finance I've allways managed to keep a few pounds in the wallet!!

Maybe try at the end of the month just to see if they've made their quotas!

cheers

It is worth trying different dealers, I went to 3 or 4 before I found one that was willing to do a decent deal.

Andy, if you call Carfile they'll quote you for a deal that includes the 0% offer.

I did and they put me in touch with a dealer who gave me 5% off.

Done. You've got your deal, you've got your PCP, you've not had to haggle and you can still consider yourself a true English gent.

Thanks Guys,

going to go to a few more dealers tomorrow with my bro,i'll stand there while he haggles!!

I'll give carfile a ring first thing with 5% discount off the price i'll sign tomorrow and wait for my 2014 present to arrive!!

Thanks for the replys

Cheers

Guys, what's with the poxy 5% discount??? Carfile look like they are giving 13.5% off - saving £3231.90!!!

Speighty68, send an email to a few of your local dealers asking what sort of discount they are offering, quote the Carfile discount

I did this over 3 years ago, eventually I went up to Silbury in Newcastle who matched the drivethedeal price (not sure why I emailed them in the end; maybe internet recommendation, Sean was great!). OK it was over 100 miles away from where I live but it only cost about £20 on the train and I had a good laugh on the A1 on the way back home

PS It also looks like the 0% is a frickin con!!! Skoda u t0ssers!!! :giggle:

The dealers end up paying the interest on the 0% - this means they won't be offering the carfile discount (which as already pointed out doesn't include the 0% deal) - if you're putting down a small deposit I estimate the cost of the interest to be roughy £3,000, plus you can get roughly 1,000 discount through the dealer. Total discount =4,000 which puts you better off than paying cash in my view.

I think I agree with you,the beauty of PCP is that you get a new car with the first 3-3.5 years at 0% finance, then either a loan for the remaining amount or hand it back for another car,pay the minimum deposit and keep any extra deposit you have to pay a few months of the PCP deal, free money!!

Still want the best deal though!

Must admit if there's truly no discount to be had I'll take my money elsewhere, i'm really not that desperate to pay for the dealers retirement plan!!"

Cheers

I think Skoda have been very clever with the marketing using the 0% and free servicing hook. 0% is just a way for us to pay the depreciation on the car over three years then hand the car back with hopefully a little over for the next deal. 0% is free money lending and even allows you to free up your cashflow if you are cash buyer to does something else for a few years. (words from an accountant)

You can use carfile or orangewheels for about 14% discount but no 0% on that or about 4-5% with the 0% offer.

0% allows potential buyers to put down a very small deposit to get them into the PCP world and enjoy cheap motoring for 3 years. Skoda are probably hoping these buyers will stay for another three years and buy another car when the 3 years are up.

If you are a cash buyer the online full discount is probably the way to go and just pay for the servicing. If you could get 4% interest on savings for 3 years then the 0% would be still better but these rates have long gone for safe deposit account. If you need to finance just stick to the 0% and if you pick up a further discount that's a bonus.

As the PCP is 0% I am hoping it will put me in a better position in 3years as no interest is added to offset the depreciation. There could be a bit more equity available than I have at present( just finishing one of the old vat free offers with 6% PCP). The vat free was great but the 6% added a chunk of that back over the years so not so good in the end. PCP when paying interest is more expensive that a normal loan as you pay interest on the end payment that doesn't reduce over the term, so  the 0% is a win win on the finance route.

I looked at a similar priced Audi but their PCP was 6.4% and needed 5k deposit with higher monthly repayments. Ok different car but  it shows how useful the 0% is.

If you are a cash buyer get a one year old and save even more. Scary figures for example, but you could save 10k on a Superb in less than a year if you don't mind second hand. Now that's a saving...

Hope the typing makes sense after a few glasses of red..........

PS don't forget the 0% sounds like it will be ending ofter this quarter. (according to my dealer but that could have been to get the deal.. :whew: )

I bought a new vRS estate last week. I visited lots of dealers who wouldn't offer any discounts at all citing that the 0% PCP deal squeezes them pretty hard....but there is room to manoeuvre a little. I managed 3% off, extra years warranty and a loan car for a holiday.

Because of an error in the computer system, I got a discount of almost 20% on my new Vrs. They had to go trough because I had it on signed paper. Too bad for them. (My local dealer had the same thing with one they ordered for demo.) So skoda had too agree on their fault.

Off course a one time deal and I am very lucky. So my VFM is way up for the VRS!

You lucky devil lol thats almost double what I managed to get!

If we're looking for the best price should we not be talking payment per month and initial deposit? Or do gentlemen not discuss money! :))

Of course if you're all buying for cash rather than the 0% PCP deal then that's a different matter.

I've no idea what price my deal was based on but with nothing to trade in, it was just down to the deposit (£900) and monthly payment (£310) for a 1.6TDI Elegance with metallic and heated leather plus a few extra goodies like boot liner, spare wheel etc.

Best deal I could find online for a standard car (flat paint) was £291 pm with £870 for a deposit.

If we're looking for the best price should we not be talking payment per month and initial deposit?

No. PCP deals distort the prices. The total price is important to those who want to purchase the O3. As in - own it. Purchase it outright or have the car for years after finance is over. Most of PCP "renters" do not have any intention of paying the final settlement figure, instead they intend to jump the ship and move on to the next model at preset "rental" (if you will) value per month. This has very little to do with the actual best price or value of the car at the point of purchase.

with winter approaching might be worth waiting until overall sales slacken off and wait until towards the end of the month as some will probably not have met their targets so will be more prepared to do a deal. Think I read somewhere January is normally a flat month, don't know if anyone can confirm this and maybe let those interested know what other months are best to do a deal in.

The 0% PCP deal is the only reason the Octy was worth paying £27250 for in my circumstances.

I DON'T want to own the car and have no interest whatsoever in keeping one for longer than x3 years.

I budgeted for sub £185 per month payments. Budgeting for higher monthly payments is stupid for me as I'm self employed with an irregular income.

The strong residuals offered on the diesel vRS and the 0% deal plus dealer discount, made this possible.

I was going to replace my Mazda6 for another one but poor residuals, high price with little dealer discount, large interest on PCP payments, along with hardly any cabin storage space, put me off.

The PCP deal I got on the Octy ensured I got into a much better spec'd car, that cost appreciably more than the Mazda6!

I got approx £1k off a £27250 spec'd TDi vRS, large deposit to pay £185/m. 0% deal saves approx £2500 of interest payments over x3 years with a GFV of £13022. Free servicing over the x3 years as I only do 5000mpa so let's say another £500, means I got about £4k discount.

Who would NOT want the PCP deal?

Should add, I'm making £2800 back from my p/ex too.

Skoda are almost giving me the car :-)

Best deal for me with a Skoda dealership in the  southwest :

8.6% off book price-configuration.

0% interest over 3 years with 3 years free servicing.

PX deal: £2.0k higher than any other Skoda or VW dealer.( whilst considering a Golf GTI DEMO.)

So happy with my lot but will be sad to see current Octavia vRS TDI go.

Which dealer is that? Thanks.

Not being funny but can you post the actual numbers as that doesn't make sense. (Unless you are getting mates rates or something)

They can't be making anything on that, I don't see why a dealership would bother to do that business especially given how new the car is....
