Or, don't consider arch gap a problem on the Yeti. :)

though it is MUCH cheaper to tick the spare wheel box and then take all that out to have a spare in a bag as you say.

So I think my strategy is to put one of my winter wheels in a bag when it makes sense to have a spare with us. That way I have the tyre goo and inflater available the rest of the time. Best of both worlds. I've got a spare widow maker jack.

The spare wheel kit has a 6J rim and 195 tyre.  Is it possible to carry a  16 inch 7J steel wheel with 215 tyre as a spare instead (winter tyre in summer and vice versa?), either with or without the spare wheel kit?  That's what I do on our Mk 1 Fabia, but it had a full size spare to start with.  You can buy a Yeti jack for £33.26, and the spare wheel kit on the FL Yeti is now £150!!  (I'm ordering an S, with 16 inch wheels).  Or are 6Js with 195 tyres acceptable all round for winter?

As answered in the other thread:

I think those are too narrow.

If you look in the Wheel & Tyre thread in the Technical Guides there are the sizes recommended by Skoda.

I wish all the other FL threads would post on this one....would make life so much easier.

I agree - time for the mods to merge the threads. Not doccs fault, threads were started with all good intentions but have drifted off general FL discussions which might as well appear here.

Now, about the Yeti options list. I must be particularly dim as it doesn't seem to tie in with the SUK spec list for the various trim standards, what people have assured us here are correct (LED tail lights as standard equipment on Elegance and L&K for instance), or how much the options actually cost (heated windscreen washing nozzles at £30 or £35). It would appear that the reversing camera is available on the Elegance but not on the L&K etc etc etc.

Perhaps it is just that the dots and dashes aren't following normal convention but if this is an official SUK 'release' then I think they need help!

On top of that, people are being told that a FL Yeti cannot be ordered, can be ordered with restrictions due to options price not being available whilst others have nigh on had their car built and put on the boat!

All very strange!

aerofurb - on the subject of the LED lights, I acknowledged earlier that I'd been misinformed and then to compound that, misread the uk options list. I'm not infallible. With regard to the heated nozzle jets. When replying quickly I said £30, not the £35 inc VAT price. But, the context was a rough price on an extremely cheap option on a £20k purchase, so £5 is hardly a big deal.

You're getting confused with the dots and dashes. They aren't inconsistent. The codes next to the option description are all concatenated to form the full spec of the car for the build process. That options list isn't a friendly customer facing document. A given option as perceived by the buyer may be represented by multiple codes, each necessary because of possible interactions with other options on the build. For example, on an Elegance, the option code for a bin in the door isn't 3LK, it's actually PLD, with the description 'Lynx leather upholstery with waste bin in door panel'. Hence, in the 3LK door bin row, in the Elegance column, there is a dash. You can still have the door bin, it's just represented in a different way because of the Elegance's different (leather) door cards.

You are right about the reversing camera though. Either it IS part of the standard uk L&K spec contrary to the spec list (making the L&K really good value) or the options list is wrong and KA1 should be available on the L&K or the options list is wrong and there should be an L&K specific option code for the camera - but I can't theorise why this should be case.

Apologies for my part in this!

I mistakenly took this thread (because of the poll, I think) as relating essentially to a discussion on the relative merits of the pre and post FL vehicles.

The advice I've been getting, though, has been valuable -  particularly as a first-time Skoda buyer - and it's enabling me, I hope, to make what has to be a pretty quick decision (for price reasons) on a Yeti 1.2 TSI 105 PS Elegance.  Following that advice leaves me thinking:

Space saver spare wheel etc - essential at £150

Park assist - hardly essential but reasonably priced at £575, so I'll go with that

Likewise the heated windscreen and washer nozzles (£250 in total)

Tyre pressure monitor - worth having at £100

Metallic paint essential for resale and longevity at £495 (though the nice bright (but sadly non-metallic) red looks better than any of the other colours

Annapurna wheels don't seem that popular.  Matterhorn and Origami seem to be non-chargeable options for the Elegance - anyone any thoughts on these please?

Rear mud flaps show as a pretty reasonable £20 - no front ones available, though?

Rough road package still there at £200 - extra protection perhaps worthwhile?

Electrically adjustable driver's seat £585 - nice to have, but expensive and maybe something else to go wrong?

KESSY Keyless Entry and Start System £400 - also nice to have, but expensive and maybe something else to go wrong?

Extended warranty to 5 years £640 - probably worth having

If anyone has any views (confirmatory or critical) on the above, I'll be delighted to receive them.  The order has to go in very shortly!

Personally I think you're over speccing it. You're not really going to get any of that money back when you change it. I'd drop the park assist and KESSY and even the electric seat. If you want everything you've got listed there I'd be thinking about going up to L&K. I'm aware you'd have to change engine to do that.

Thanks, Nick - I had missed the LED light update in the increased number of FL discussion threads (again, not your fault docc, just the way forum threads drift).

You are right - I (and no doubt others) am confused by the dots and dashes seemingly having no relation to normal car sales brochure convention.

Hopefully, SUK will get the configurator online eventually and allow us mere mortals to understand what is available on what level of trim and for how much.

I still find it amazing that there is no common knowledge on the FL throughout the SUK dealer network.

My view:

Space saver spare wheel etc - essential at £150 POSSIBLY

Park assist - hardly essential but reasonably priced at £575, so I'll go with that LUXURY AND FRIPPARY

Likewise the heated windscreen and washer nozzles (£250 in total) DEFINATELY

Tyre pressure monitor - worth having at £100 NOT REQUIRED

Metallic paint essential for resale and longevity at £495 (though the nice bright (but sadly non-metallic) red looks better than any of the other colours MAKES VERY LITTLE DIFFERNCE NOWADAYS

Rear mud flaps show as a pretty reasonable £20 YES!- no front ones available, though? I'D QUERY THAT!

Rough road package still there at £200 - extra protection perhaps worthwhile? DO YOU INTEND DRIVING OFF-ROAD. I DO AND DON'T HAVE IT!

Electrically adjustable driver's seat £585 - nice to have, but expensive and maybe something else to go wrong? LUXURY BUT SAID TO BE GOOD

KESSY Keyless Entry and Start System £400 - also nice to have, but expensive and maybe something else to go wrong? FRIPPARY

Extended warranty to 5 years £640 - probably worth having WATCH THE MILEAGE RESTRICTIONS

Front mudflaps might be the same as those used on the proper Yeti despite the plastic surgery up front.

from your list I'd go

Spare

windscreen & washer jet

TPM

RRP (used it in anger on road myself)

Mudflaps and rubber mats

Warranty if your keeping the car more than three years

Seat maybe depending how comfy you find the manual chair

Paint white or maybe red myself

Oh with my Octy I've hit 1.2k on the options list just getting kit I will use that's not standard on the SE (SUK haven't imported the Elegance 4x4 :swear:  )

I wonder why KESSY on a Yeti is apparently going to cost £400 but it's £300 on an Octavia III vRS Estate. Spare wheel on a Yeti £150 but £75 on the Octy, heated washer nozzles £35 on the Yeti and £30 on the Octy.

Perhaps the best option is to stay Pre-FL....

With the Octy though if you want heated screen you have to have the winter pack with heated washer nozzles and seats. The latter I don't need as the seats are cloth but I'm forced to spend the extra 200 to get the screen :S

I take your point entirely. KESSY is probably overkill, along with the electric seat. Should havemen tioned though that we'll probably be keeping the car for at least 10 years, so there's a long payback period.

Configurator mistake most likely.

It's SUK we are talking about here. So there will be MANY mistakes.

Off-road button :wonder: ?

Off-road button :wonder: ?

FL will have on-road button instead.

Is it me or can you really now only get the 170bhp diesel engine in the top of the range L & K model. I was thinking of moving up to the Elegance from my SE just for this engine but not prepared to shell out even more dosh for the L & K. The Audi Q3 SE is now looking a lot more appealing!

And no LED tail lights on an L&K then, 'wood' trim decorative inserts down as £55 but 'wood decor' included as standard on the equipment list (hate 'wood' inserts).

On the upside, apparently L&K has 'sports bumpers', 'covers for alloy wheels' and 'rear side exhaust tailpipe'.

Seems the configurator needs a bit of a remap....
