Given that this is the FL Discussion Thread, I thought I'd post a couple of philosophical thoughts that have kinda evolved in this tired old brain of mine.

I think the concept of having two "strains" of the same genetic material is actually a pretty damn clever one - and here's why!

There will be a number of potential owners who would have been put off by the chunky 'off-road-ish' looks of the original Yeti, thinking that it looks too Chelsea Tractor like or too Point-to-point-ish for them, yet who desired something higher and chunkier than the usual city/urban vehicle. Look at the success of the dreadful Juke, marketed as a wild industrial zoomster - and consider the introduction of the Yeti Urban in an attempt to secure s slice of that perceived market. By having a Yeti dedicated to that segment, and diverse from the Countryside version, at a stroke they have un-alienated a great number of potential punters.

Similarly, by specifying beyond any doubt that there is a Yeti that is macho, and is focussed solely on the fresh-air brigade, they've removed any prissiness that might have been perceived......this IS the REAL chunky monkey, mud plugging, point-to-pointing, caravan-lugging, camping wagon, and make no mistake about it.

And both models are, beneath the hype, genetically twins.

Simply clever, some might say!

Jungle Green - amazing and so glad I went for it. Good post Dale, and thanks for puttng my mind at ease over my choice.

Perhaps Progress Skoda would like to sponsor this site - could be good for business?

Interesting idea; seconded (as a Progress Customer myself).

Cracking pics of colours, kinda regretting changing from jungle green to moon white now,,, never mind have to stick with it now. My l&k comes with the brown leather seats , tried to get them to change it to black somehow but dealer not budging, any ideas or thoughts on this ?

Change to an Elegance to get black seats?

Knew you would regret it (colour change), still time to change though, as my dealer will accept changes up to a couple of weeks before build date.

Black is not listed as an option on the L&K is it?

The colour for the l&k is the exclusive dark brown metallic and the seats are brown to match it. I don't like the brown at all so I went for the moon white, which i'll stick with now. Such a shame you cant change the colour of the leather though, and there is only one set of wheels that come with the l&k. Bit restricted really. But the included options more than make up for that though.

That's the Jungle Green & Moon White swatches from SUK, I put my LED torch against them to try and give a true representative of colour (as best I can anyway!)

Mate, would be great if you could start a new thread with pics of all of the new yeti colours , pleeeeaaaseeee !! Esp the l&k dark brown ?

kerms34 - thought you did not like the L&K dark Brown Metallic? Mind you, I would think that maybe it could look OK with the brown leather seats.

The seat colour swatch shows the L&K dark brown as extremely dark - in fact  while I could sense some difference up against the onyx sample, on its own you'd have called the dark brown black if asked I suspect. This was only inside the showroom and not in bright sunlight and only a small sample on the swatch, but it did allay my concerns to some extent. What I'm more bothered about are the 'wood' inserts on the L&K. Don't think that I'll even be considering ordering until I've seen an L&K FL in the flesh (January I'm told). Perhaps the 170 DSG L&K will have made its way on to the configurator by then.

I couldnt agree more about the wood inserts, they look honking !!! Salesman assured me that they were only installed as an option, mine will come with piano black inserts with the l&k logo,,, he will be for it if it turns up with trees on the dash !!

Very tempted to change to the dark brown metallic now,,,, arghhhhhhh

Moon White's looking more and more of a serious option to me, now that we know it's the same as Audi's Glacier White.  Need to check out an Audi in the metal first, but these might be helpful:

Definitely worth going and having a look at a glacier white. It makes much more sense when you see it for real. I think Seat Nevada white might be the same. I think vw oryx white is different though. Remeber when you compare on the audis, the difference between moon / glacier and ibis white isn't so big as it will be against candy white.

Just scroll back a fair few pages and look at my comments and photos of the brown seats at Frankfurt. I said then and I'll say it again: they are a very subtle classy brown. They don't scream BROWN a mile off at all. They certainly are not remotely black though.

Side by side like that the Moon white (Glacier) definitely has a slight grey tint to it. BUT you only see that when parked next to another solid white car. As the second video proves, on it's own, it just looks WHITE!

Well,,,, annoyed the sh@t out of my dealer today and changed my colour to magnetic brown ,,,, promised him that would be the last change. Built the config picture with that colour last night and it grew on me,,,, all done now. At least it will match the seat colour now.

Magnetic brown looks great.

You are, of course, right.  Took a look at a few Audi Glacier Whites (same colour) today.  Not the most brilliant of whites, as you'd expect, and with just a slight greyish tint, but most definitely white - you wouldn't really notice it as different from any other white once on the road.

So - not being a great lover of pure white (particularly given its recent strong unpopularity)  - I think it's maybe back to the Jungle Green again.

I think I've worked out where the Outdoor front fogs come from!!

Have a look at a Passat Estate.

They are DRL's on the Passat (this car doesn't have front fogs)...

2011_Volkswagen_Passat_(3C)_118TSI_stati

Xenon-equipped Passat's get LED DRL's in the main headlight, this model has front fogs with the normal DRL bulb holder capped off...

They do look similar to the Yeti's though.

Jungle Green  - yes!

But, I have to disagree re comment about white not as popular now. In the press yesterday, it stated that white accounted for more than 25% of all new car sales in the UK , overtaking Silver as the most popular colour.

I nearly went for white again on my new FL as I had that on my last Yeti (and my last few cars), but just could not resist the Jungle Green with the black/sliver Matterhorns.

And there's also the point of how well an individual model type suits a particular colour. White does seem to suit the Yeti particularly well (in addition to being nicely appropriate).

I agree that it's very popular now - but white has only recently become acceptable again after years of being an 'untouchable'.  Not so long ago a white car was the equivalent of a Rover, and about as saleable.  My concern is that its popularity may be short-lived, which will hit resale values.  Jungle Green may go the same way, of course.........

Last four new cars have been non metallic, decided other options were more use than a fancy shade of paint. Tried all three current Skoda solid colours and white is the one we prefer. The new Octy III has also been ordered in the white and the saving has more than covered the winter pack option (heated screen, front seats & washers) :)

I always thought that browns and greens were famously the colours to avoid as having especially poor resale value.
