Congratulations. I don't think I'd agree on the comfort point though. An Octavia vRS has more supportive seats and markedly less tyre and wind noise. I suppose the Yeti is easier to get in and out of.

Nick, had a octy vrs , brilliant car, sent my rear end numb after regular long journeys every weekend. If they sorted the seats and put 4wd in the new vrs , it would be a no brainer. Had 2 mk1 fab vrs as well, honking seats , brilliant car.

I see the yeti as a sign I'm making a car choice with my head this time not my , well , you get the gist

Went back down to dealer today ,,, he pointed out that the elegance with the options I had spec'd wasn't far off the price off a l&k ,,, so the deal was done ,,,, FL Cr 170 4x4 L&K on its way to the kerms household !!!!!! Proper excited. Glad I didn't go for a vrs now,,,, almost same power with four wheel drive and comfort !

Congrats, very exciting. I assume you went for the Jungle Green?

I had a look on the Configurator and couldn't decide if I liked it or not. Not that

many green cars around these days, maybe not a very popular colour but it may

look really good and suit the Yeti in the metal. Will be a while before we see any

of the new colours to judge I guess.

Jungle (metallic) Green is my choice, but have to admit that it looks awful on the Yeti 3D configurator. I am basing my preference on the advertising shots on the Skoda website (with Matterhorn alloys of course). Just hope it looks as good in the flesh when I take delivery.

Maybe Nick, but the Sport seat option available on the FL Yeti are very supportive and comfy. I had them in my last Yeti Urban and they are some of the best sports seats  I have had in any of my cars, which include among many others a Cosworths & Impreza. One of the best option IMO on the FL - I made sure I ticked that option (heated as well).

As a total novice to Skoda, I've found it almost impossible to choose a colour because the brochure colours (and even the colour swatches the dealers have in some cases) seem to bear little resemblance to the cars themselves.  I've ended up with Silver in the end, on the basis that it's a safe choice - could always change it later, though.

Jungle Green could be fantastic (I suspect it is) - but it could prove to be drab and awful, as well as being difficult to see from a safety angle.  It's just impossible to tell at the moment, and it's too big a risk for me.  Shark Blue was a possibility, but I haven't managed to see it in the flesh, and my worry was that it could just look like a drab light blue.  Corrida Red looks great - seriously considered that.  But it's not metallic, which might affect resale and could mean that the paint doesn't last as well, and red does tend to fade.

Decisions, decisions!

Yes it is difficult, and I agree that Silver is a safe bet, as is white. Unfortunately, until the first models hit the showrooms in January (although not in all colours), means do you leave until then and order with an even longer wait, or, order now and take delivery around Feb/Mar (hopefully).

I have seen a very similar colour to the Jungle Green on a Fiat 500 and commented at the time how nice it was.......even on a Fiat - just hope I am right!

Yup you are right. It's the Diesel edition (brand not engine) Fiat 500 that came in a colour very similar to Jungle Green. It looks great.

Many thanks Johann. I have been racking my brains trying to think of the 500's edition name (Diesel). If the Jungle Green turns out the same or close to that colour I will be well pleased.

Had to spec the Matterhorns as well - I think you like that combo as well if I am not mistaken?

Given the price increase after today, maybe the best bet's to order now with the possibility of changing the colour after the first ones arrive in the showrooms.  I gather you can change options up to a week before build - though I'd like to see some confirmation of that.

Yes it's my favourite colour and wheel.

No. Not correct. You can change options to roughly about four or five weeks before build but not a week. They need some time to build all the bits to go in your car!! A week is not enough.

Whooops...maybe I was guilty of giving out that (incorrect) info, as my dealer told me a week (5 days actually). However, I can see from your explanation that is not possible so bow to your superior Yeti knowledge and stick with the 4/5 week deadline. Just as well I have a couple of weeks up to wk 45 to alter my spec mine then (provisional build wk 50).

PS: perhaps I misunderstood dealer and he told me 5 weeks not 5 days.

In theory you should be able to change the colour five HOURS before it is being made since they have vast quantities of paint on site. But most of the rest is built just-in-time somewhere else and delivered to the factory just-in-time. And as you can imagine an engine or gearbox is not built in five hours... (well it is, but it won't get delivered to the factory in five hours).  To get an idea of how many companies supply bits for your car look at this inforgraphic on the new Octy III:

You have got to be pretty keen on metallic paint to pay £495 for Moon White as against £0 for Candy White.

Surely white is white even if there are subtle differences in shade. I doubt anyone has seen them side by side

to really compare. I quite like Candy White as it is a rich, creamy white compared to some of the harsh whites

I've seen on other makes.

Does anyone think it will make a jot of difference to the resale value a few years down the line?

Nope. It's a bit of a punt. I really like Audi Glacier white and VW Onyx white though. When you see those parked next to their flat (candy / ibis) white brethren, there's no contest.

I disagree...  Do you know that the Fiat 500 has two shades of white?  One flat and one metallic? The metallic one looks a MILLION times better parked next to a flat one version and its not even that difficult to see the difference from some distance off.

Look at the sheen and sparkle:

But then the flat non metallic colours do seem to at least have the same appearance on metal and plastic (front wing to bumper)!

Perhaps in those photos but in real life you do not see such differences.  Just look at all the white 500s that pass you to check.   :giggle:   You have to look a LONG time as very few people tick this box but you do get them.

I can just hear the Dealer in 3 years time:

" Wow ,look at the sheen and sparkle on that car....I'll give you £495 more for your trade in." :D

Ive spent the last fortnight looking at 500's with a friend and the metalics are awful in terms of bumper to wing matching. No flat ones had the issue and theres been a few really diabolical metalic grey and silver ones! Its either to do with the different properties of the material/primer/top coat or the fact the bumpers are sprayed elsewhere and the metallic flecks just dont through the light the same as the dipped body paint! FOrd also had major issues with this a few years back. Anyway, a nice little car and now back on topic (apologies for taking it ot!)

Thanks, very interesting comments, especially about the white Fiat 500s. Two of my neighbours

have those but they look identical so I assumed there was just the one Fiat white.

I will be looking forward to possibly seeing a Moon White Yeti in the New Year. Most likely only

at the next big Briskoda Yeti meet.

Brilliant! I didn't even clean my VW Golf when I traded it in for the Yeti. Decided rightly or

wrongly that it wouldn't make any difference to the cost to change figure.

Told the same thing by the dealer here, too - OK to change options up to a week before build.  Johann's 4-5 weeks sounds much more credible, though.

Interesting discussion on metallic and non-metallic paint.  I've been told by dealers that secondhand buyers always go for metallic, and that it therefore affects prices (simple supply and demand).  Same with green cars (Yeti might be the exception) - they don't sell very well.  Consideredunlucky by some people (why?).

I'd love to know the truth of all this.  Are metallics really any better than non-metallics?  Does the paintwork last better?  Is it better protected?  Does it fade less?
