Hi there!

New to all things Skoda I am looking very seriously at the new Octavia VRS - estate. I currently drive a Volvo V70 D5 (185hp) and my concern is with practicality and comfort on long journeys. I reliably notch up 40k miles a year and need to know that I won't climb out at my destination feeling 'done in'.

Can any experienced Skoda owners - particularly Octavia Mk 2 & 3 - give me any advice based on experience?

Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the site. I'd check out the mk2 and 3 forums and have a read. A few mk2 owners have changed to the mk3 and posted comments.

Volvo does have a long-standing reputation for the best seats in the business. I used to have a C30 and it was very comfortable -though I would say that my Octavia is equally comfortable BUT it is an elegance model with the electric seats and not the VRS which has completely different seats so probably not a lot of help really.

I'm doing circa 30k a year, and mostly in 200+ miles round trips in a day. I've got a 2012 vrs and is one of the most comfortable cars I've owned, including an 02 V40 estate and a 1997 S70

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome.

I have a mk2 vRS diesel, & regularly do a 300 mile each way trip, the seats & ride are decent enough.

Put it this way, quite a few police use the MK2 estate in various specs.  Some even buy one as their personal cars, as price wise thye know they are getting very good value for money.
