F1 Belgian Grand Prix On Poverty BBC TV.

Featured Replies

Just catching the end of Practice on BBC 2 now.

Must try and keep up on when the BBC do transmit stuff, its a mystery much of the time.

So i will watch the listing, look for when Red Button, then hope that it appears when advertised.

Might as well get something for my £12.12 a month.

Raceday timing is spot-on for once. The MotoGP will be ending just abut in time for the Spa gridwalk.

That comment confused me at first, but then I realised that I use a USB TV tuner to run my own PVR I get all the EPG updates over the air and can see exactly what's coming up on the red button channel!

I'd assume there's a published list somewhere of what's being shown but it's one thing I hate about most set top boxes is that the red button tends not to show in the EPG (one of many reasons I simply built my own).

I have a real TV.

But with BBC and receiving TV in Scotland as BBC Scotland, & you can sometimes be not be sure, what where and when.

We might not have Live BBC, but at least it might say, 'Press Red Button.

Sadly there could be Cycling Live on 1, and the same cycling Live on Red Button.

Just hoping this weekend now for, read listings,

set time aside to watch,

sit down and there it is as published.

Looking forward to these Practice seasons, Qualifying and the race.

No trying to avoid hearing results for hours,

just to hear who won as you boil the kettle and get ready to watch Highlights.

Ahh, Mobile 1 the Grid, ch4,

& 6.30 AM Saturday BBC 2 F1 Practice 1.

Nice to be able to watch Proper BBC coverage for Formula 1 : Abu Dhabi.

Friday 21st,

 BBC2 1.00 - 2.35 pm,   Practice 2

My Humax FreeSat PVR takes care of that for me - usually! Watched practise 1, need to get through practise 2 later.  Mobil1 The Grid, very irregular timings usually miss the first minute of up to half of it, now, why was WRC (Rally of Wales) shown "live-ish" for the first two days, but the final day was held back and only shown as part of the normal short program some days later - I always thought Wales was part of UK!  WTC needs to be recorded for me by a friend, though WTC is really just a bit boring right now.

Will the will they not start qualifying in 10 Minutes time?

Looks like calling off would have been the sensible thing,

i wonder how much Bernie personally losses if the Race does not go ahead.

There is stuff on the Red Button at the moment.

EDIT,

Ah repeated from yesterday.

I succumbed a bought a one Now TV day Sky sports pass (£6.99) last night  , i did this for three reasons;

1. I keep hearing that the SKy coverage is a lot better than the BBC

2. I thought it might be a good race and

3. I couldn't be bothered to wait up for the BBC highlights.

Well SKY coverage is OK but the race commentator is useless seemed to get almost everything wrong and do they employ almost every British ex-f1 driver as a pundit (probably why it costs so much!) ?  I do prefer the BBC coverage - SKY is just to too overblown and over the top and doubt whether I'd bother spending the money again,

Totally agree with the above,Tv companies maybe have spent their budget on persons not actually driving a race car.

Or they aint got a clue.

Or both.

Watching the Italian grand prix tv channel, there is so much passion and excitement, same as their football presentations.

Wake up Uk.

To be fair to SKY, they spent a lot more money to get the GP rights and also dedicate an entire channel to F1 so they have the right to pad it a little imho. As for the coverage, well neither SKY nor the BBC cover the race itself, Bernie took that in-house many years ago (shame as I used to do Silverstone for the BBC and ITV :( ) so the Broadcasters simply take a feed of the race. It might change a little with 4K, but I'm sure Bernie will take that over too if it ever gets going properly.

It wasn't the pictures during the race that was the problem. I know that all comes from "good old" Bernie. It was the over gimmicky coverage around it (more fool Sky for spending all that money they didn't have to ) and the race commentator who didn't seem to know his Bottas from his Massa. Other than the race coverage it felt like " never mind the quality, just feel the width" TV .

I know about Sponsorship, team colours, Ferrari is Red, Silver Bullets are Mercedes etc

But there is space on a panel in front of a driver for a great big easy to read Number.

(It was easier with car colours when they were advertising Fags & even when first not allowed to advertise Fags, but the Fag Logo could look like Fiat colours.

Maybe just help the viewers know which car is which and which teams driver we are watching.

Because as the cameras go to various fights further back in the race,

Letting viewers easily know which is a Torro Rosa or a Red Bull which car is which and who is in it.

Same in BTCC & other Motorsports really,.

Please just let it be easy spotted on something that is not a 'Big Screen', which car has which Driver in.

A Big Number on the roof., or on the bonnet. For TV Viewers.

Just like NASCAR :)

You say more fool, but they have given us a dedicated channel which is something that nobody else would have done. Plus I imagine that they also paid for access to the archives. The BBC does not have automatic right to use the old Murray Walker shows, as Bernie has absolutely everything tied up. SKY does try to fill a show and airspace, no doubt, but overall I'm pleased I have it. As I have the SKY Go + package, or whatever it's called, I get it included without extra cost too :)

Plus we get a commercial station showing the race without adverts for up to 2 hours :)

Can you imagine if they let the drivers pick a colour for their car. Ferrari aside, all the drivers would be driving Pink or Burberry creations :(

United Colors of Benetton!

Lewis & his # 44,

but he is no 'Doctor' of Love. no. 46.

Diamond encrusted Burberry for Hamilton. Pink for JB (obviously). Dull grey for Kimi. Something with flowers for Keke. and if he was allowed to choose any other colour than red, Vettle would want the exact same colour that Hamilton had.

I have to say I totally agree with this. I enjoy the relaxed approach to the before and after of the races too, being possible due to no time restrictions. I love all the old races too, plus the F1 show etc. Also, Crofty gets a lot of flack from some people, but I have to say I really like him, yeah he makes the odd mistake but generally he copes pretty well with the first lap antics imo.

If you do want NowTV day passes, tesco have been doing a box plus two passes for £10
