Columbus Maps V9

Thanks, music is no problem as it is all on SD and not HD and I would be replacing the maps anyway. I only have a couple of saved destinations and they can be replaced easily. Best run it past the dealer and see what they are going to charge me for the pleasure!

Hmmm..

After talking to the local dealer I got a - Oh we don't do updates like that but we can order a disk for you at £OMG but if you need to update the firmware for it You are on your own!

I have decided yo wait until after my trip to France (just in case) then update the firmware myself then try to source an 'inexpensive' copy of v9 maps.

I am reluctant to pull the Columbus unit to see what revision it is as I usually managed to break stuff doing that sort of thing so how can I tell if I go into the setup hidden options as it is not very clear?

Press the setup button for 30secs or more. If only get the FM set up then will have to VCDS or pull out to get revision number.

When I brought my Superb I got the dealer to upgrade the maps before purchase. They charged £75 (around an hours labour) for the privilege. Seemed sensible to get it up to the latest level for a small fee and then do myself at a later date.

That's not such a small fee when you consider that all they have to is put the disc in the drive and then go and have a cup of coffee.  Labour?  Nice work if you can get it!

When I do this it goes on from the FM/AM bit to the next set of data - lots of stuff but which bit will tell me what version of Columbus I have?

It was on an early 5 postcode firmware. If something had gone wrong in that process they would have had to fix it. I understand that early to newer firmwares can possibly brick. £75 for piece of mind on a £1500 unit is good value in my opinion.

There should be a part number beginning 3T0.., a 4 digit HW number starting with 00, a 4 digit SW number ending in a 4, and a 4 digit map version number, starting with a 6 or 7. All are relevant.
