Dash camera fitting for mkiii octavia

Featured Replies

Anybody fitted one of these yet?

Ive got my blackvue 400 to go across to the new mkiii vrs when it arrives but Im unsure at the moment as to the best fitting.

I know my mk ii's inside out after fitting my bluetooth 3 times in 3 mkii's but the mkiii is still a mystery until I get it.

I had a look at the demo vrs the other week and where the usual fuse box cover is on the right hand side door theres a big aiurbag warning sign there!

A quick look in the manual shows the new fusebox is now behind the glovebox on the left hand side and you have to take the glovebox out to get to the fuse box!  :(

From the looks of it Ill have to fit around the big camera mounting behind the mirror.  Maybe then take the cable through the headlining to the left A pillar then down into the fusebox.

Anyone know if there are airbags in the A pillar on the new VRS?

Pretty sure there is. I was considering seeing if an autospark can take a feed off the mirror etc.

Will be interested to find out if anyone managed already.

Yes I've a camera in mine. I ran my cable down the pillar away from airbag equipment, wire just tucked in headlining. My camera is quite small and does not intrude on mirror and its sensors.

The power is taken off 12v accessory socket supply which I have changed to an ignition live by using a fuse link. It is a real pain getting to fuse box as its a bit of a joke having to remove glove box which requires use of flat blade screw driver to unclip hinge gizmo. So yes it is doable to fit camera just not a hugely easy task!!

cheers both.  PITA as I thought but at least doable.  Why did they have to move the fusebox to behind the dashboard!  not exactly easily accessible now.
