Rattling front door windows

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

My parents a have a 2013 Octavia 1.6Tdi Elegance... we've noticed that the windows rattle quite a bit when they are lowered slightly around 30cm... both front door windows do this so it does not just seem to be a one off fault on one particular door/window/guide.

Going to bring it into the dealer for them to get it checked out but I was just curious to see if anyone else has noticed this.

Cheers

Michael

I've never usually drive with windows open as have climate control on all the time. Also the maxi dot display shows via the Eco tips to shut the window to stop drag and pushing my fuel economy up!!! Next time out I'll see if I have a rattle with them open.

The window open slightly (30cm) that's 12 inches in old money!!

The top & side rubber door seals are not doing what they are designed for with the window open that wide so wind resistance etc will have an effect & probably set up a rattling as they are not being held tightly by the seals.

Would agree with pumatron & rely on the air con with the windows closed.

Seeing as you're American, we forgive you.

Well... I must say that I'm glad that the now very old concept of meter finally reached you...  ;)

Sorry, don't mean to insult anyone!! I just couldn't resist...

But as Dodgy pointed out indirectly... You should wait a bit longer before you bring it into space... Expensive experience...  :whew:

@ Kalpat thanks for the response but it doesn't sound right to me as I own a 2011 Octavia and there's no rattle when the windows are lowered to a similiar level. I do have an old M1 Golf Gti cabriolet and that did rattle but that was down to worn guides, the rattle went away when I replaced the guides.

I will bring it into the dealer and see if it's a loose window guide or something amiss.
