Superb Diesel Estate (which one)

Featured Replies

Mine is a 140 4x4 DSG and initially I found the consumption really disappointing, 34 - 36, probably about 60/40 split between town and open road driving. It was far better then my previous Saab auto diesel and equaled our manual Focus diesel convertible. However, I have noticed that as the miles creep nearer 10000, as I have been advised by others on this forum, the car is steadily doing more to the gallon, around 40 on the last tankful with very few long runs.

The last passengers to travel in mine are getting rid of a Jaguar XF as the need 4wd traction (but not an off roader), they were so impressed by the quality and refinement of my Superb they are thinking of getting one. I must also confess I have a heavy right foot

Huw - I have 26k on my 140 DSG and I'm frequently getting over 50mpg for mixed driving. Sitting about 80mph coming home from Dublin for about 70 miles and around 60 for the last 30 miles I was averaging 47mph before subtracting the average 10% optimism. Works for me.

I have the Superb Combi CR170 now for just over a couple of weeks.

I have driven mostly town and some motorway.

A recent run to Bridlington from Manchester, including the steep run upto Junction 22 on the M62 plus a 5minute run in roadworks near Bradford. I set the cruise control to 70mph except for the roadworks and the M62 M1 junction. At 50mph.

Just before I came off at the A64 near York, my passenger took this pic showing 64.1MPG. Not bad for a loaded car.

EDIT for some reason the pic is small. Its appears larger in the gallery.

How is every measuring MPG though? The fuel computer is incredibly inaccurate reading 4 to 7 MPG over (I hAve had two superbs now and they have both been the same). Currently gave 170 L&k estate.

Just fitted race chip. Typically 44 mPg before, now 49to 5 mpg
