Fabia VRS to Honda Civic Type-R swap

Featured Replies

Ive come from a type r ep3 to a vrs and there is pros and cons to both obviously

I dont like the vrs interior too cramped in comparison to type r!

I sold the civic after two years ownership was bored of it. Power wasn't all that and as stated youve got to give it all or you get nothing when driving and youve got to timw your overtakes alot more than in the vrs.

Type r only had the fan speed resistor motor fail which was 60 from honda and apart from discs pads and fully refurbed calipers couple of tyres thats all it needed in two years of hard driving lol

Keep a check on the oil definitely they do use it. Regardless of if you take it easy or not

I wouldnt mind a supercharged type r in future though.

Sorry to jump in, Just wondering what people think would be a better option, type r or a leon cupra r. I know the cupra has 25hp more, but just overall.

I know it's not the same, but I run. Clio 172 as well as the vrs.

It does drink fuel, I get around 250 to a tank going to work

Tax is 265 a year and we have a multicar policy at 1200 for 3 cars.

On my own, vrs was nearly 800 and clio similar

So it's a good saving that way.

Just depends how often you want to use it?

I got the clio up at 4000 a year and the fabia 12000

What type are car do you want?

Type r is a na cat

Leon is a turbo

More tuning potential on the Leon because its a turbo. Limited on the type r. But you can spend thousands on both if you wanted.

Surely you'd be better off asking that question on a Seat forum, perhaps Seat C****.net (sorry, can't bring myself to type the full name)

Agree with all the above comments really! (except I don't wear a backwards cap lol)  I went from a hybrid turbo TDI to a Type R and haven't looked back.  Speed difference isn't huge, handling is worlds apart, the civic itself is a bigger and more practical car (huge boot) unless 3 doors bothers you, and the noise.... :D

Only thing like you say is expensive tax and insurance can be a lot.  How many miles a year do you do?  If tootling around town, you'll notice no difference at all in fuel costs.  On a long run then yes its more thirsty, but I can get 38mpg out of mine on a long run sitting at 70.

Throw some good bushes and thicker rear ARB on, and £150 for springs (budget coilovers on a civic are £650+) and get a geo set up and its fun fun fun!

240bhp is easily achievable on these cars too, without compromising reliability, and all for about half the price of a decent hybrid turbo set up.  Then you can go nuts like DeadMau5 and supercharge it!

Just check the service history is good and do a good HPI as these cars can have a hard life.

If you're interested mate PM me and I'll tell you what to look for, Josh did that now look what he drives... lol

Check the insurance, especially on the EP3, they can be expensive to insure when compared to similar vehicles (eg the Corolla T Sport).

Surely the whole topic should of been in a civic forum then!

Do it -  I loved my old CTR EP3. I swapped from my Fabia vRS and never looked back.

It's interesting to see the number of members that have gone from Fabia vRS to CTR. Chavs. :giggle:

No, the post is comparing a Fabia vRS with a Civic Type R, whereas you are asking for a comparison between a Seat Leon Cupra R and a Civic Type R (neither of which are Skodas)

you can't fault his logic ^^^ :D

Charge it Cliff!

My logic, as ever, is bulletproof  :)

I smoked a Type R the other day....

Anyhoooo,  does this mean we'll have to start calling

you Sushi boy (Food of sumo champions and slitty eyed rice farmers?)

He won't do it folks, the Honda badge isn't circular

I went from an EP3 to the Fabia and I do miss it a lot! Awesome motors, the handling is supreme and the whole "you have to work it hard" thing comes naturally once you've owned it for a few days. I've been big on my Honda's anyway so it wasn't anything new to me, but the engines are designed and built to be revved high and hard so just enjoy it! To the OP, is it really Y reg? I'm certain the very very first ones were 51 plate, dont think I've ever seen a Y reg one on the roads either. 67k and A/C is good mileage and rare on early ones so I'm surprised the dealer is offering peanuts for it!!

Get it.

ep3 type-r looks really dated to me, but the FN2 looks awesome, i have a feeling i'll go to one of them when the finance on the fabia is up.

although 240bhp is easily achievable as said, i think it's called hondata, and then you can add pre mapped mods into it. Clever bit of kit.

would rather a civic than a clio sport tbh (similar car)

Do it, I'm in the process of selling my Type-R to go to a Mk1 Fabia VRS and if I'm honest it's soul destroying. I mean the Fabias going to do a great job at what I want it to do (rack up the miles), but the character and noise is no where near as addictive.

Have to say the new ctr looks the nuts!

I/E/M and flashpro/kpro will see 240 - i tune petrols predominantly jap stuff.

The new type R will be turbo charged.

just new on here currently have a accord type r if it's a type r your looking for the best fun is the integra either jdm dc2 or dc5, ep3 are good but boring to drive in my opinon, the dc2 with few choice mods will put massive smile on your face with noise that it makes but if worrying about fuel don't do it my atr gets less than 30mpg just one of the reasons im looking to change.
