Insect removal

Featured Replies

Could do with any tips or the best way to get rid of dead insects on the front of a car? Tried autoglym insect spray and not too chuffed with it!?!?

A bug shifter sponge, a sponge with a mesh over it, works wonders with normal warm car wash. Always amazes me how well it works.

best is something citrus based, i use auto finesse citrus power but others are available.

spray on, let soak for 5 to 10 mins then they wipe off dead easy when washing.

soak some cloths in bug shifter or tfr and lay them on the bug cemetery, go for a brew and when finished go and rub said cloths all over the bugs and they will wipe off, they just need soaking.

Rinse the car with the hose to shift any debris first.

As above, these are brilliant.

No expensive chemicals required...

Charlies sell their own insect remover spray. Spray it on the front of the car, wash the sides and then the front. Only 99p as well! Perfect!! It works as well!

Any spray glass cleaner will do the trick. Spay over the area, leave for a while and wash off.

Pair of old tights or stockings used as a cloth with your normal car shampoo work a treat

Lidl do a window cleaner thats pretty good. I use it on helmet visor and windscreen. Just spray on, leave for 30 seconds and wipe. Repeat if required. It gets rid of all the greasy stuff off the window too. Its called W5.

A well know trick with visors on crash helmets is to soak a sheet of non rip kitchen roll and just press it on.

Leave it for 5 mins and wipe to remove it. No bugs and no scratching.

It guess it would work on the car too but SWMBO might not be too happy about you using so much of it.

I think the sprays can also take off any wax you have protecting the paint. They're just strong detergents.

auto finesse citrus power and valet pro citrus bling are just 2 products that wont strip protection.

If the car is properly polished and protected, they should just wipe off with a normal wash mitt.

I find that most bugs that have hit the car at 80 to 95 mph seem to bond with the paint!

Saying that don't wax the bumpers in the same way as the bodywork. Maybe worth a try.

I recently discovered ProShine Spray & Shine (http://bit.ly/17TewvP) - which is a waterless wash and wax system (my other car has no roof).

Works well on insects / bird muck etc and leaves the car nice and shiney
