Hopes dashed!

Featured Replies

I popped into my dealer, today, to show my son the Octavia.  We were hopeful, upon seeing a steel grey 2.0 SE 4x4 Estate, sitting in their car park, registered, but still in preparation, that our car might have arrived.  However, our salesman said that it should be "landing any day"  :(

On the upside, he said that he is hopeful of delivery towards the end of the week!  :p

Had the same experience last Monday myself. Know the disappointing feeling.. :)

Better news, today.  It turns out that the car in their car park was mine, but the salesman, having only just moved to Skoda from Volkswagen, didn't know their systems and so didn't know that it had already arrived!  Delivery set for Friday, all being well!

Talk about hopes dashed, dealer (might be same as yours) told me Saturday car still at Emden (3weeks after being built). Skoda UK told me today that it is on one of 2 ships that are at this moment arriving Grimsby. So between them they are carrying 1400 new cars. Like me there will be some happy owners hopefully next week.

It's steel grey for me also.

Wonder how long they sit at Grimsby for? Hope mine is one of the 1400. It was on its way to Emden last Tuesday. Am I being unrealistic to hope for collection this time next week?

From what I gather they are pretty good at getting them away from Grimsby in good time, however local Customs insist on examining every car which does mean moving them from one part of the port to another before they can be allocated transport. Skoda are letting me know today when mine will be moved to the dealer so will re-post when I know which should give others an idea of how long they stay on the docks.

My octavia 3 was built in week 20 and arrived at dealers week 22. I picked it up week 23. So its possible to get the car 2 weeks after its built.

Update - now know car is at Grimsby docks & has already cleared customs. Dealer arranging transport & expect to have it & PDI it early next week. That will be just 12 weeks from order date, so happy the wait is almost over.

Brilliant! I phoned my dealer and they say its still at Emden port but it has been released to be shipped whatever that means. They say it'll be on the next boat over, dunno when the next boat is scheduled. Maybe it arrived last night but the system hasn't been updated yet. Hope so, felt sure it would've been shipped by now. I'm so bored of waiting and impatient.

If you look at shipping movements from Emden port via internet you can get an idea when it might be moving. Depends where your dealer is which port it goes to. Sheerness, Grimsby & I believe Newcastle. They are Kess Line ships normally & usually have Highway in the name. The 2 into Grimsby last night were Schelde Highway & Weser Highway.

Sad I know but I tracked them online so knew when they arrived. It is only a day crossing & they are on the move all the time.
