Ah right I've gone and ordered a new set of bolts from the local Skoda dealer anyway. Don't know about how much they are yet though.

That does look very low on the front! Rear height is spot on though.

I raised the front up yesterday. Couldn't be doing with ruining my £180 a corner tyres!

Here's a little vid of the impracticalities I faced whilst so low

No real update, just a fresh pic of it. Raised the front up 15mm to avoid scrubbing the brand new tyres and bending the arch.

Massively highlights the need for a front splitter tho!!

Would definitely finish the front end off well.

Looks great, some lovely mods on this car :)

Have you done the arch screw mod? Mine rubbed on this (when I had the tt arms on) but easy and quick mod that gives you a bit more room.

What's this mod Rob? Mines sometimes shrubs :(

I have taken the screw out of the arch liner. Does help a bit, but might just wind it up another 5mm or so.

Found a splitter on eBay, get it on payday

Search "arch screw delete" or something along those lines on the mk5 forum. Basically there is a prominent screw holding the arch liner in place - put your hand in and you can feel it at the top of the arch. Remove the screw and you can push the liner behind the tab that the screw was in - then bend the tab upwards and you've gained a bunch of room inside the arch. If you look inside your arch and see the screw is shiny/ polished then it means your catching it with the tyre.

Ali - ref brakes - if your not doing track days then the nqsbbk/porsche 986 brembo calliper on oe discs is all you need. Looks great, cheap, works great, saves a chunk of unsprung weight, what's not to like? :)

996 calliper with 350mm rotors or the r32/s3 345's both add a bunch of weight.

God knows what I can't edit this properly, but I was trying to say that with decent pads and fluid, there is no reason why the 986 calipers are more than capable of handling a track day.

are these the VMR 710s?

I was looking at these the other day, just a bit dubious about the 312 disc size and the adapter bracket.

Then I am also a bit shallow and like to have some big brakes to fill my 19's up a bit more, plus the r32/s3's are cheaper.

They were Axe wheels , not entirely to my taste but were quite cool.

mk5golfgti.co.uk forum often has second hand sets up for sale.

There's a few sets of rs3 calipers and discs for sale on that site. Apparently fit mk5 with ttrs discs so would surely fit the octy? Great site that Rob, never been on it :)

That's true, and I've looked into it. But I have found out the the replacement discs and pads are extortionate. Pads approx £250 and discs about 400-500. Which is mental, and apparently they have issues with eating pads and getting hot.

I'd love some for the appearance but not for the costs.

I think the RS3 disc/pad issues are around some very fast cars (modded TTRS's etc) on track days - i'd guess for road use on a vrs you'd not have a problem.

IIRC daveb (gti forum brake guru) was working out some replacement consumables for those at more reasonable prices.

I'd guess that with the rs3/ttrs setup you'd probably also need to upgrade the rears (s3 310's or similar) to get a good balance - adds to the cost (plus those big discs add weight). Beauty of the 986 brembo/nqsbbk i have is that it works fine with the oe rears. BTW my setup is the same as D@z and j0hn, muckipup etc have.

Thanks.

Glad there is some love for it on here.

There certainly is, looks great.

Are your wheels matte or satin black?

Cheers. They are matte black. Satin has more of a sheen to it. I think it's 5% reflective to light! hence why they look crap in pics.

Now I know I really haven't had this long but considering selling to raise funds for a house.

Price would be 12500 without recaros and 14000 with.
