DSG Oil change

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a good independent gearbox specialist in the Devon area that can do the DGS oil change for me for a little less than what seems to be a standard £180 at VW\Skoda\Audi dealerships?

Needing tax and tyres and a sevice on me new L&K diesel estate, every penny counts!

Cheers

Steve

£180 ain't bad from a Dealer plus Skoda, if work carried out at a Skoda Dealer,  will guarantee  the work/labour for 2 years.

Very true. It's about £90 for the oil and filter, so an independent won't be a lot cheaper than the Dealer

Do you know how long it takes? I see you can get the oil and filter kit on eBay for £90, surely that and an hour labour plus vat ( or maybe 2) would be considerably cheaper ( cheaper) ?? My local independent garage charges be 30 quid an hour labour.

I don't know what the book figure is for labour for the DSG oil change. But it's not quite a straight forward gearbox oil change. It has to be refilled through the drain hole with a special VAG rig, then the engine started and diagnostic equipment must be used to monitor the DSG oil temp, which is allowed to get to a certain temperature to ensure the correct level.

It might be 1 1/2 hrs labour at an independent......but I'd want whoever is doing it to have done it before a few times, as it's a little technical.

I got mine for £120 from a Skoda dealer earlier in the year.

£90 + £60 ( 2 hours labour ) = £150 Verses £180 from the Dealer, It's a no brainer

I think I'd like the 2 year guarantee

You won't get that from a Independent Garage, more like 3 months

there's no need for vag-com either.

There is if you want to be absolutely certain that the correct amount of oil is in the transmission.......which on a DSG, you really do.
