Had a go in a.......

Featured Replies

Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 estate yesterday evening.

Was impressed.

V6, twin turbo, 4wd and tiptronic box. Not a fan of autos but I could live with this one...circa 280bhp so it was fairly brisk...made an awesome sound as well.

Handled well for a big car....well screwed together...very solid. If I had a gripe I would have said the centre console was a bit boring...the climate control read out was in yellow and looked kind of cheap.

Would also have preferred some sports seats.

I believe average mpg is mid 30s but if you rag it this will drop below 20.

Would I have one though?

Ticks in most of my critical areas apart from day to day running.....with high consumption and probably high servicing cost and at the end of day, it's these which are the deicding factors.

So I would have to say no...mind you the price of this one makes it very tempting regardless.:D

My old boss had a Galant V6 as a company car that I think was 4x4, so is that pretty much the same thing?

As for running costs, it spent more time at the garage than on the road because the tracking was forever going out of alignment. Plus Mitsu is the most expensive company in the UK for serviceing AFAIK - just as well he wasn't paying for it!

I drove it to pick up some customers from the train station one time (before I'd actually passed my test - shhh! ;) ). I remember being slightly scared by how fast it was... :o

Can't think what they look like

Can't think what they look like

Grey import Galant, I think - just like Pajero = Shogun...

Or at least an image search on Google for one showed pictures of cars that looked like Galants - could be wrong, in which case my last post is totally irrelevant.

(No change there then! ;) )

VR4....Lurvveeely It's one of the cars I would have at some point, economy is the only draw back.

I tested a galant sport and it was the shortest drive I've ever had...the vr4 is meant to be leaps ahead, sadly they stopped making them, so now it's

VR4 or RS2 :D

The Shogun is the name of the Pajero in the States dude. It only comes in left-hand drive since it's for the US market.

There's a big Mitsu we get over here...the Magna VRX....very big...very fast...somethin' like 300bhp...comes wth ugly wheels though...

I looked at the Galant VR4 (and Scoobie) when I was changing my car. The stupid running costs and high insurance are the reasons I now have an Octavia. Not really a comparison in performance terms but......do you really need that performance every day?

It's called a Shogun in the UK too and is RHD.

We have Pajeros as well because it's common practice to import used cars from Japan as they're cheaper, official UK cars are Shoguns though.

Sod the expense.It looks great.

They are very fast - I got beaten at Santa pod by one when I had the T5. Apparently it was nearing 400 hp !!! Sounded mint, but usual ralliart branded parts [

Interesting...in any case, Pajeros suck. We used ot have one, on a round about you feel like it's gonna flip. The best 4wd lug I've been in that makes you feel like king is the Toyota Land Cruiser. And in the desert, which we have plenty of here, it fooookin' rocks!!!!!!!!!

I only asked what the tiptronic box was like and ended up having a 20 minute test drive. :D

We do get Pajeros here but like Eddy said these are imported Shoguns (UK name?).

Why hasn't anyone imported a Pajero EVO yet.....would definately have a go in one of them. :D

i thought the pajero and shogun were different cars?

the Pajero Sam's uncle has is nothing like the Shogun he had before it or any other Shogun i've seen.

anyway, nice looking motor the VR4, didnt Skodaw have one and wish he'd kept the vRS?

I had a V6 Galant for a while, and the dealer let me borrow their sales manager's VR4 for half an hour.

Awesome, is all I can say........:D

Phil

My bro had a VR4 - awesome car!

Sod the running costs, they're so cheap to buy now that they'll lose very little - mpg isn't everything! Get it bought

I can confirm the Legnum is a grey.
