Can i have some Advice?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, as you may know I've just got my Monte..

I would like to put a chrome exhaust onto it, and i'm not sure what to get or how to really do it.

is it worth me just purchasing a chrome tip to put onto it? or to change the back box completely? I don't really want to change the whole back box as could invalidate the warranty?

I have had a look at a few and ill put the links on here.

could anyone give me some advice on what to do? or if you have done this to yours could you send me some photos? or private message me :)

Thanks- Jay

All factory systems with chrome tips only have the add on tips anyway.

Just just buy the tip(s) and secure them with the included bolt/grub screw.

:)

Personally I'd get the stock Skoda one if there is one.

The systems you have linked to are writing cheques the engine in the car can't cash and probably won't fit the bumper without modifying it.

I found this one- http://www.superskoda.com/fabia-ii/exhaust/skoda-fabia-ii-1-2-htp-rear-exhaust-stainless-steel-tail-pipe

I was going to do the cut out myself.. im not sure if the VRs is the same as the monte carlo? as in the colour?

Personally I'd advise putting the money towards learning to drive it first

That's for a 1.2 HTP, yours is a 1.2 tsi so may have a different pipe.

Doesn't the Monte have a chrome tailpipe finisher?

I thought it did.

You're very brave to go cutting into a brand new bumper.

Because it needs to be spot on to look good.

yeah that's what im not sure on, I think the TSi has a down facing pipe, so im not sure wether I would have to cut it? and possibly extend it out to put the tip onto it..

and no it doesn't have the finisher

The old Fabia Sport had a sort of oval tailpipe which stood proud of the rear valance

The exhaust on a Monte, at least on the diesel, finishes some way back under the valance

You'll probably have to cut the downwards facing tip off and fit the finisher to that then.

Before you go buyng something you need to know how long it needs to be, to finish where you want.

Plus what the diameter of the pipe is, so you can be sure it fits.

How much extra power is it going to give you? Or is it something else to make it 'stand out'?

It might be worth you seeing if there are any performance exhausts places near you.

One of them may be able to make up exactly what you want, possibly without the hassle of changing the back box which you should tell the insurance company about as it's a modification.

that's another reason why I don't want to change the back box, ill have to have a look around and see if I can find somewhere

Have I understood right that you haven't passed your test yet? Or am I going mad?

If it is the former I'd have though you would struggle to get insured on a stage 2 remapped car or it would cost the same as the car itself.

Give him a chance, he was only 17 last week. :D

Is this the chequered Monte Carlo you unveiled on your Birthday.

Again another probably very silly question, where you able to drive the car off on your birthday or is it still at the dealers?

yes it is, and no its currently still in the dealers, until I go up there sometime this week and finalise all of the paperwork

Could have been learning to drive on private roads and taken his test on his 17th birthday.........in fact I'm surprised he didn't :-)
