MkII Octavia Climatronic Airflow Issues

Featured Replies

Hi Guys  :hi:

I am struggling to find solution for Climatronic air flows issue on my used approved MkII Skoda Octavia.

1. It keeps blowing hot and cold air alternately at a certain temperature

2. I do not get any airflow from the blowers near the feet.

In the first attempt, I got the air-con service done (with gas recharge) as the starting point advised by the Skoda dealer and thought things would improve but no joy.

As the car still has used car warranty, I gave it to the same dealership for repair under warranty.

They found 7-8 different faults in the system and said it needs 2 hours of diagnosis to find what exact part/ parts are at fault.

It could be either one or more motors behind dash (mostly under warranty) or could be wiring (not under warranty)

They said they will have to test each part of the system which can take upto 2 hours (£100 per hour!) which I have to pay for.

I am really struggling to understand what could be at fault and if I am being charged fairly by Skoda dealer for diagnosis.

Because "most" of the electrical parts including Climatronic system is used used car warranty, I decided to go to the Skoda dealer.

I would really appreciate with any help regarding similar faults and repair prices.

Cheers.

I'm not an expert on VCDS, but could this point to any problems before taking it to the dealer?

What kind of warranty requires you to pay for the diagnosis? They admit they found faults...

Someone on her could scan it for you. someone must be quite local to your location

Mention a crate of beer and see.................

Good point. This issue is really difficult to demonstrate as it is intermittent and its only 3rd time I was successful to claim there is an issue. I do long commute daily so I know exactly what happens.Because it is not throwing hot air continuously and another great winter is approaching, I need to get this sorted.

New car warranty pays for the diagnosis.

Used car one does not.

But if the work being done (like taking off the glovebox to access behind dash) is towards replacing any warranty covered parts, that "should" be paid for - as explained by Skoda customer services

I was told that too about a used warranty, but I spoke to Skoda UK and was told that reasonable diagnosis costs were covered. This was relayed to the dealer via a reference number and they acceded.  I got a replacement screen for my Columbus free on that basis.

All, My problem was resolved by replacing the main Climate Control Electronic Unit which was faulty. The dealership All Electric was excellent in handling the problem. I recommend them to all!
