Delivery pack - necessary?|

Featured Replies

Hi all

Ordered new Octavia Elegance today but on checking paperwork saw although delivery included in OTR, delivery pack (at £395) wasn't and I hadn't asked for it (should have checked at dealer !)? Have asked them what is included in this - Got a feeling its a way of making back the discount they gave me!

Has anyone else been charged for this?

Plates?

It's the cost of delivery and preparation of the car and the paperwork iirc.

Does sound suspicious, the OTR price includes everything, hence it being 'on the road'

I used to work in car sales. It probably consists of paint protection (don't bother), mats, flaps and bootliner. Mats come with the car anyway.

Imho, not worth it. Protection is no better then stuff you can buy and apply yourself. Mats are standard and bootliner £50 eBay.

Comes with rear mud flaps as well I believe :)

The Delivery Pack is a dealer side add on that is optional and not part of the cars optional accessories.

I didn't take it as I ordered an Elegance, they did try to claim that not taking Supaguard would affect the cars value at the end of the PCP.

The dealer said the delivery pack included...

- Tank of Fuel

- Mats

- Rear Mud Flaps

- Supaguard

Didn't see the point of Supaguard as I use a paint sealant anyway at the cost of £14 a bottle which lasts 2.5 treatments (one every 4 to 6 months). Oh and the Elegance spec comes with mats and rear flaps as standard.

When I picked the car up it had a quarter of a tank in it, so a full tank cost me £50.

I see it as the Delivery Pack was going to cost me £400 for something that costs me £65 and a bit if elbow grease.

Saying supaguard affects the PcP value is a load of *******s too.

For the record, which dealer told you that not having Supaguard would affect the car's guaranteed future value on PCP? I think a bit of naming and shaming is in order!

Listers Coventry.

I caught sight of their part ex inspection/valuation sheet that they used for my Citroen and there certainly is a tick box for Supaguard yes/no.

It wasn't the GFV (which for the record is just less than £10k with a 3yr 14k pa mileage PCP) that they said would be effected but the market value of the car over the GFV.

Yeah, they tried to do the delivery pack with me too. I just said no and they took it off. I'd have a go at them for not explaining it to you though. By the way, I bought from elsewhere as I didn't find them very helpful.

I used to work for Listers, that tickbox makes no difference. Just a sales aid for the salesman. You could even say it has been supagarded, they wouldn't know the difference.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a car from a company that tried to sneak unwanted extras on the invoice.  Progress Skoda, who I've bought my last 4 cars from have been very straightforward, in fact I've had to request extras and options in the past!

Totally agree. My dealer did his best to sell me the Supaguard & gap insurance, but when I said no that was it.

I've already commented in the dealers section about how cr@p Listers Skoda Cov were so didn't buy from them.

Did buy a Yaris from Listers Toyota Cov for the missus and had to delete the Superguard as they automatically added it into the finance figures without even asking!

Seems Listers group, as a whole, are a bit "bleh" from my experience.

They tried the delivery pack on with me a couple of years ago when I was after a new Fabia. I think they wanted £800 for what they quoted above plus front mud flaps and side rubbing strips. Went elsewhere and got all that for about £100 on the same spec new car with the same px.

Funnily enough they were about £800 out on my recent Roomster purchase as well.

Perhaps they do reasonable deals, just not in my case!

Mats, flaps, bootliner etc you should never pay for them regardless of being part of the car or not, its a joke, you are spending thousands of pounds and they want t charge you X amount for something which costs them very little!

My dealer on the last new car I had, even gave me the LifeShine kit and said 'look, I know you like your own products, but have a kit anyway in case you might want to use it' it cost them a tenner, maybe £15, and that worked for me, I use my own products anyway, but it was a nice gesture.

Mine tried too, for about 30secs, until he saw I wasn't biting.

So back to the original question, is the Delivery charge optional or required?

I have the "Delivery Charge" on my order form for my vRS at £321. I have the Simply Clever pack included so that takes care of the boot mat and if feet mats are included too then it sounds like all I'm getting for my money is mud flaps.

Anyone know?

Just looked at my paperwork from Sparshatts in Fareham.

I have a separate piece of paper for me to sign that states 'I can confirm that I have been offered a Sparshatt's Delivery Pack for my new car which I understand includes fitted carpet mats and £20 of fuel. Please do/ do not add £50 to my invoice for the Sparshatt's Delivery Pack'.

On the Vehicle Order paperwork I have a line under the heading Pre - Tax Items of Delivery £425.00

Also noticed Post - Tax Items it states RFL £55.00. Is this Road Fund Licence? My vRS is Band C on Road Tax of £0.00 for first 12 months then £30.00 thereafter.

The "delivery charge" was part of my OTR price together with first registration fee.etc.

It is the "delivery pack" that isn't part of the OTR price.

I'm currently looking at some form of interior fabric protector which is the only part of supaguard I can't currently replicate myself (2 cans of Scotchgard are £11 direct from 3M).

On the paintwork I use AutoGlym Extra Gloss Finish (paint sealant), on the Vinyl and Rubber I use AutoGlym Vinyl and Rubber Care (does the same thing as Supaguard Vinyl) and on my wheels I use AutoGlym Alloy Wheel Seal.

Edit: J8mbo.... £55 is the first registration fee.

If your looking for something to protect your fabric have a look at Gtechniq.com - Some very good products (you might also want to look at paint sealants instead of the AutoGlym)
