Mobile phone mount/holder

Featured Replies

ill check where mine is in the morning as its persisting down at the moment. I think mine is slightly further left but I have the bolero so not as much screen in mine so maybe the bezel is thicker?

That's great thanks. It's the admunsen so I think it's the same size as bolero.

The only odd thing is it fits fine on the left hand vent although the screen does still move out slightly.

It also seems to need a huge amount of force to install the bracket.

  • From experience these weighted solutions are rubbish. In the event of an impact or sudden jolt (potholes for example) you have the base and a 130g+ piece of tech flying around the cabin. No thanks

  • A bean bag for £19 - and you think Brodit is overpriced  Okay, save a quid - get it from Amazon.

  • Brodit might be expensive compared to a bean bag but you get what you pay for, I paid for a quality phone holder and that's what I got!

Apologies for the necromancy,

Has anyone got the Brodit mount on the central air vents?  I'm trying to fit the mounting and it's causing the stereo to pull out of the aperture and leave a small gap on the right hand side, I don't know if others are seeing the same problem or whether I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry - a bit late to the party.  That was my old Galaxy Nexus, but my Galaxy S4 fits in the same Brodit holder.  Can still operate the hazards and the wheel for the vent, and air still gets to my face.  Perfect for me.  And now cheaper on Amazon than I paid.

I just use my old window sucker job from my last car - I'm not as fussy as some :dull:

I did a little research though, since one thing that I find annoying is having to plug the charge cable in all the time. Far as I could see no one makes a charging cradle, certainly not for the iphone.

Was looking for something similar to the old Nokia car phone mount, where you just bang the phone into the cradle and it's charging, no fishing around with cables. Anyone know if you can get similar for the iphone?

Mine works ok ish if it's on the passenger air vent so I've just had to go with that.

Nice cradle other than the mounting issue - I blame Skoda for that as I reckon my head isn't mounted correctly but can't see a way of getting it sorted under warranty etc.

Mine is a iphone 5 charging cradle.

I've just bought a wireless charger for my nexus5 will have a play at the weekend and see if I can find somewhere I like

That looks almost ideal - you also have to buy a Brodit mount to screw it onto?

There is just one showstopper though - my iphone is new, but I intend to get a shockproof case for it. The Brodit says it will only take an iphone without one - is there any other charging cradle out there which will take a padded iphone?

I put a link to the car-specific mount in my earlier post (with pictures).

The fit of the Brodit phone mounts is tailored precisely to the phone (I am on my 3rd phone holder and 2nd car mount), so none of theirs will take a case.  I have a case on my S4 and most of the time it (phone with case) lives in my pocket.  If I am on a long journey or want to use the phone for Navigation (very rare given that I have Columbus!), I just take the case off and put it in the mount.

And yes, I use too many parentheses (probably)

Do the brodit holders allow for landscape usage, they look like they go all the way round, but its not clear, anyone who has one could let me know that would be great!

Thanks

I'm new to the iphone. It's a great phone but 2 big issues - battery life(need to charge twice daily) and fragility

Putting both of these factors into the mix, I can't believe it's hard to find a charging cradle that will take a padded phone - they would fly off the shelves...

Brodit, do 3 size holders (maybe 4) for the iPhone depending on the size of your case. I got the one for 'slim' cases and it just fits in with the official Apple leather case. If i were buying again I'd probably get the next size up for 'normal' cases. If you have a chunky case they do a big one too - but that may depend on your case style.

Worth measuring your phone with case on and seeing which range of holder it fits into.

The swivel goes 360degrees, I use mine in landscape for nav and upright for music. Only pain is if you have a charge cable attached it can look ugly having enough slack to keep turning it. They also have ones that hold the top of the phone in case you often have it at weird angles and are afraid of it falling out.

My sister has my old Audi and I left the mount in it - she got a holder for the Galaxy S2 and uses it rotated to view her SatNav app.  Hers is one of the Brodit phone mounts that says "Tilt and Swivel".  I don't know if the mounts with integrated cables also swivel though - wouldn't take much to find out.

PS Hadn't seen Mort's better reply at the top of the next page.  Being an android kind of chap, I didn't know that they made mounts for iPhones with cases on.  Nice.

Brodit do different mounts for iphone dependant on what case you are likely to have. I have a c6 case and my phone fits fine.

This may be a silly question but as I understand it the Brodit mounts your phone in front of the air vent. Quite possibly the worst place you could choose unless you want your phone to fry on a cold Winters day, or are you forced to not use the vent at all?

Finding their website quite hard to navigate if you're looking for these - do they def do *cradles* for phones in cases? I'm having a look for the iphone 5s in a Griffin Defender and nothing jumping out so far...

Hi Brodit users, thanks for the info mort and Juniperz. i got the clip and holder this morning

Quick question, when I insert the Pro clip between the dashboard and radio frame, it is pulling the whole unit forward on one side, has anyone else experienced this.

If i put the clip on the passenger side it doesn't pull the unit forward at all, it would seem to have a missing clip on the drivers side, any thoughts?

The one I had a year ago for an MG rotated all the way round for landscape use. Used it that way when using GPS.

Mine has been in place for nearly a year now, but I seem to remember thinking something similar, though perhaps less extreme.  I didn't try the passenger side, or worry about it for the last 11.5 months!

I only mentions it because it come forward a good 3 of 4mm!

Mine is probably similar though it can't be too obvious.  I can take a look when I am near my car.

Mine does exactly that as well. See further back where I posted a vid.

I've setup the clip on the other air vent (passenger side) which doesn't cause this.

Hi all

Hope someone replies to this topic as I'm travelling tomorrow and need to use Google maps navigation on my phone

I have a 2016 Skoda Fabia Tour de France edition, bought in France and it came with a simply clever pack with a  Phone mount fixed but moveable which is placed at the rear of the passenger seat, so that a rear passenger could use it but surely it must be able to be moved around?

Does anyone know how I can fix it near the front screen, so that I can see my route?

Thank you

I wouldn't want to be driving a car with that holder if the side curtain airbags go off. That and the phone will become a lethal missile, with no predictable outcome in the direction it get sent.

I use a pound shop vent holder, sits low enough to be below the airbag deployment area
