No, there isn't.

  • From experience these weighted solutions are rubbish. In the event of an impact or sudden jolt (potholes for example) you have the base and a 130g+ piece of tech flying around the cabin. No thanks

  • A bean bag for £19 - and you think Brodit is overpriced  Okay, save a quid - get it from Amazon.

  • Brodit might be expensive compared to a bean bag but you get what you pay for, I paid for a quality phone holder and that's what I got!

Not in my experience, had my angle mount for over 4 years and swapped it over from Superb to Octy no probs, even though the angle mount is not supposed to fit the Octy, it works well. The new phone mount for Nokia Lumia also seems very sturdy so you must have a bumbling ham-fisted tendency to have managed to break one. Quality with a capital Q.

Same here - 2 cars, 3 phones and very impressed with the quality, as they are a perfect fit for the device that they are built for.

Ah thanks for clarifying this.  I thought I'd seen airbag markings on the A Pillar but it's been so long since my test drive I wasn't sure.

I'll need to think about using the mount for the airvent then, although I'm not too keen on blocking the airvents tbh.

ive fitted an airvent one and it works quite well and doesnt block them too much.  the only problem is I havent found anywhere to route the cable to power yet

Interesting. My SE standard spec doesn't have airbag mark on pillar (just checked). Sorry. I wasn't aware there were variations. Didn't intend to mislead.

no probs ssfan :)

Its odd on my VRS as I wasnt aware there were airbags in there as I only found them when I took the A pillar off to run the blackvue dashcam wire.  When I had curtain airbags in my mkii 58 plate VRS the A pillars clearly had "Airbag" stamped into them.  The new VRS doesnt have the stamp

Hmmm... Isn't there some sort of legal requirement for all the airbags to be marked? There's even an 'airbag' stamp on the end of the dash (where the door closes against it) on the drivers side for the knee airbag....

That's a good point. My previous cars all had "air bag" marks on the A pillar but this one doesn't.  I simply assumed because of that, there isn't one behind the trim.  However, I just checked the brochure and 7 airbags are standard on the new Octavias "located at the front, front side, curtain and drivers knee area". So it does appear that there is something on the A pillar after all on my SE Estate.  I shall contact Brodit and see if the design of the Proclip mount affects the airbag deployment and will report back in due course!

Short and sweet

Tetrax, they are £10 from Halfords and it is less than a 1p in size on the dash and holds an iPhone very easily.

Had one for over a year and it is a lot less intrusive IMO than any other holders / brackets out there.

So, I'm interested in how briskodians have their larger smartphones mounted now. (HTC one here), so time for a bit of thread necromancy!

http://www.ppyple.com/#!dash-n5-page/c18vp

Try this one. Very good and holds firmly.

I have used a "cheapy" one £4.00 from Wilkinson's High street stores, for years. They do have a weak point at the hinge. But at that price I'm not bothered as they fit my Mk 2 Octy well using the sticky mount on the right of the radio area. They hold my Samsung S3 for sat nav use or small work phone firm once adjusted. Can be lifted out from sticky mount away from view.

I use an OSO Mount http://www.amazon.co.uk/OS1379B-Universal-Bracket-Mobile-Phones-Black/dp/B008E5OMGG

Fits any phone upto 5" width..  not had any problems with it and it also has a super sticky suction cup that sticks to anything !

Can I advise caution when using one of these mounts!!! I stuck mine on the dash for a long journey and when it was removed there was an indent caused by the suction!!!

Subsequently the indent has disappeared but I have a problem in that the sticky part has left a mark on the dash - it's as if it stripped off a layer of paint or somesuch!!!

If anyone can recommend something to try and restore this to the original dash finish I'm all ears.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with it leaving any marks...  even when used on the windscreen it only leaves a feint ring where it's been, but that comes off with elbow grease.

I've got one of these: http://tinyurl.com/mcdvzsg

It's attached to the dash, it hasn't left any marks or dents in the dashboard. And I still have my Garmin on a dash mat in the bottom right hand corner and it doesn't move and it doesn't obstruct my vision either.

It makes me seethe and my blood boil when you see the p*ick in front of you have a Sat Nav stuck on the windscreen almost directly above the steering wheel. It's about time we followed the Californian law of nothing attached to the windshield (windscreen).

I know what you mean...  If I can't get my phone within the profile of the bonnet so I can see all the road I don't use the mount...  roll on the new car with Amundsen!

Apologies for the necromancy,

Has anyone got the Brodit mount on the central air vents?  I'm trying to fit the mounting and it's causing the stereo to pull out of the aperture and leave a small gap on the right hand side, I don't know if others are seeing the same problem or whether I'm doing something wrong.

mines fine. Got a pic if where you're mounting it?

Hopefully this works...

Found the one I used on mk2 Octy won't go anywhere on Mk3 due to angle of dash. Trying out Wilkinson new style, which Halfords also sell. Trouble is I don't like the idea of sticking a disc onto my dash top to mount the sucker. Do any of the above "suck" to the rough finish on the mk3 dash

Hopefully this works...

ill check where mine is in the morning as its persisting down at the moment.  I think mine is slightly further left but I have the bolero so not as much screen in mine so maybe the bezel is thicker?
