2015 Skoda Fabia to make Paris show debut

Featured Replies

"The next generation of Skoda Fabia will make its international debut at the Paris motor show in September 2014 before going on sale the following year.

The new car will be aimed at a younger audience and will be 'much sportier' than the current model, according to Skoda CEO Dr Winfried Vahland.

It will be lower and wider than the current generation, with the styling heavily influenced by the Skoda Fabia S2000 rally car.

'I said to my designers, go and build something like that,' said Vahland.

However, Skoda recognises that it needs to not alienate its existing customer base. The new car will come with 'class-leading visibility' for example."

Hopefully a little less dull.

"Much sportier" - so I wonder if that means we will see a new vRS?

I know they have stopped making the Fabia vRS as it currently stands - cannot continue to make a car everyone loves but nobody buys.

But a new vRS designed from the ground up to be sporty might just get some people interested.

shame that this is posted in the Octavia section

shame that there is no picture of how the car will look

Moved to general car chat

Also in the Fabia Section.

Stoofa, post #3.

they have not stopped building the current MK2 vRS, or stopped taking orders, and people are still buying.

They have announced there will be no Mk 3 vRS Fabia.

They are building the 2,500 of these Polo R WRC, & going to build the S1.

& that 2,500 is less than the MK2 vRS sold in the UK.

& 10 times as many as the A1 185ps Twinchargers they sold in the UK.

That statement is null and void. If the new Fabia is "more sportier" then how can it possibly be for a younger audience?

I'm 25 and paying £2300pa to insure my 12-year-old Octy vRS. I dread to think what I'd have to pay for a brand-new Fabia that's going to be "more sportier" than the current Fabia!!! :o

Where on earth do you live? Deepest darkest Detroit?

I'm 26 and mine on an 04 Octy vRS is well under £1k.

Also, if they make the whole range sportier, why get rid of the Fabia vRS?

'Sportier & Sport', gets 'Lost in Translation'. from German/Austrian/CZ,  to English.

VAG Spokespeople and CEO's think Stick on Stripes, Chrome Tail Pipes, Plastic Enhancements around Wheel Arches and Lip Spoilers & 105 PS diesel or petrols makes for Sporty.

VAG has the opposite belief to others, instead of 'just add lightness,'

theirs is 'Just add useless chrome, stickers and plastic tat'.

'make it look fast, never mind if it is slower than the base model with the same engine'.

At least Seat still know what Sport means and can plan cars for the near future like a Cupra Leon R.

I assume it'll be based on the MQB platform, so will be the same as everything else VAG produces, rather than built from the ground up?

I really dislike that MQB from a buyers POV. From costs/ease of production it's fine.

It can't be uglier than the current Fabia (IMO), so there's still hope!

I think by "younger audience" they mean "under fifty".

My wife had a Mk1 Fabia 1.9TDI and loved it. The Elegance spec was amazing.

She'd now like a similar car, but she won't choose the current Fabia because it looks like something her mum would drive.

Either you're high risk (lots of points/crashes) or live in Syria.

Specsavers or get out more often maybe.

I have seen 4 just today driving in Aberdeen & then there was the one i was in.. & 3 in the Dealership

Over 2200 taxed just now in the UK in 3 years of sales, so there are a few about.

(maybe a few of those are currently in Dealerships getting new engines fitted,

but Skoda/VAG prefer not to mention that wee failure.)

They have not yet mentioned stopping building the other 3 twinchargers from Seat, VW & Audi that have not sold as well as the Skoda, and who have engines with the same problems and failure rate..

But then VAG are not known for openly admitting failures in their Designs or manufacturing.

Thankfully they get enough ones that are OK, and they can ignore their bad ones.

10,000 Mk1 vRS about in the UK and i see the odd one now and again in my travels, and not many in Scotland.

I do keep an eye out for them.

Bet it will just be another "sporty" Monte Carlo type thing.  Very much doubt it will have any guts behind the Tinsel.

Never got any points and only 1 slight ding 4 years ago. I also live in a relatively low-crime area.

Hell, I even got charged £50 just by telling the insurance company "I've painted my car black."

What's happening is that I'm being robbed and there's sod all I can do about it... other than take the car off the road :( But alas, next year it will come down to £850, so something positive... sort of.

What many young drivers that bought them like about the mk2 Fabia vRS is how low the insurance is.

Fugly & nippy can be cheap to insure.

Maybe if nobody wants to buy them, then toe rags are not interested in stealing them!
