Spirited driving MPGs

Featured Replies

Just wondering what sort of mpgs you folks are getting after rather spirited brisky drives? (on 'private' roads). Many thanks.

40-43... thats the top end of 6th... for a good long while 3-4 mins?on the Autobhan.

Cant really seem to get it to go any lower than 40.

Lowest I have had is 41.7mpg over 362 miles

11mpg :)

11mpg :)

Fan of your work :D

4mpg :p

About 20 on some nice country roads.

38 on a b road blat

averaged 17 in the the endurance car 1,4 16v over 300 miles, stage car manages 7mpg lol

Low 20's

On country roads and m ways i can average between 36-45mpg. Driving briskly if i drive like a vicker the best i can get is 55-56.

4mpg Goblin?

FM!

I used to get more than that with my Impreza WR1........!!!!!

about 31 on a "private" motorway when going quick, up to 55ish when being sensible

4mpg, possible! Chaps at Rockingham had the nissan gt-r's at that doing passenger laps a few weeks back.

/Edit just saw this was in fabia I, fell for it after 10years... didn't spot... dammit, anyway for posterity

Or we had an old 325, leaky fuel tank, that seemed to get through a lot of fuel too... tuning by fag butt guesswork and twiddly things under bonnet, half a tank for 40mins track work, over half it leaked.

My superb on her 2 year stint traversing the peak district; sheffield -> manchester, mostly spirited driving on A, B and the odd C road, historic avg low 30's. It's a little too big to go much more and I've never tracked it, but suspect lower would be achievable.

20/21 at Snetterton on the old circuit.

Yes, I was getting 3 or 4 at Combe. :giggle:

Tuned Fabia VRS diesel I couldn't get much under 15mpg on track.  30mpg on the road, 55mpg driving sensible.

In our old Cordoba PD130 (basically a Fabia but more aerodynamic) would normally get about 40mpg with spirited-ish driving.

We once went to Germany in it. We achieved a top speed of 138mph (gps) and was mainly doing 100-120mph and we got 47mpg on that trip.

Lowest I ever saw was 35mpg.

Driving mine like i stole it i done 427 miles on 41 litres of BP's finest juice this last tank, that's something like 47mpg. Most of that was "private roads" above 100mph with a lot of 3rd and 4th gear overtakes. Also, o max'd it a few times, it doesn't go past 125 unfortunately...

These last few weeks i've been a lot more careful so out of this current tank i'm already on 452 miles and haven't reached the red yet and that's on pretty normal driving with the occasional squirt above the ton so i should be good for about 52-53 which is about right.

The best i done was about 65mpg on a trip to Cornwall with the wife, the kids and a boot full, not too bad.

Oh wow, guys....looks like I need to investigate something on mine. Had several late night/early morning trips on my last two full tanks on 'private' motorways. 5th gear, triple digit mph, revs at 4500, returning 28-32 mpg. Probably just an old diesel and the 17" wheels.

Mine was at santapod :)

I had fun this evening and was still getting 55mpg! On my current journey, soon dropped when I came across an M1 though!

I've managed an indicated 17 for 15 mins of track driving.

From spirited driving over a whole tank I've never seen under 40.

When my car was (very briefly) stock I would only just see 40 mpg from a tank. I got it mapped to 165/170 hp I saw an improvement in MPG to 45-47, now a slight drop with running +/- 230 hp, about 43-45 (all worked out properly using the fuel receipt and the trip mileage figures).

Just bear in mind that comparing a PD100 with 5 gears to a PD130 with 6 gears isn't really fair. For instance my Cordoba would be doing 70mph at 1700rpm. 3000rpm was well well into triple figures and it pretty much ran out of puff at 138mph.
