Can I Get a Reeeeee badge.

Featured Replies

I have replaced my badgeless Milotec grille with an original Skoda grille painted black. I was supplied by Butts of Bawtry for

Why??

Looks good. Skoda pride!

One of our customers has painted his grill black on his red Fabia vRS, looks really good.

Does look really good. I have been thinking about the milotec grill for my fabia, but might go down the all black original idea for mine instead. I think the fabia could do with a spray on the radiator too.

Why??

You'd have to see it in the metal. IMHO the original Skoda grille just looks right. I loved the Milotec grille when I first fitted it 2 years ago, but an all black original kicks ***!

plus the badge is cool, wear it with pride (cheers Lummox)

He He, Skoda pride (he says as both front and rear Skoda badges are coming off the pick up...lol)

But hey its still a Fun and pretty unique to Skoda.

Well - I still maintain my Skoda pride on the front, even if the boot is smoothed off and clean. :D

No plans to get a badgeless grille for me, although painting sounds like fun. I assume the same could be done with diamond metallic silver as well?

The guy who painted the grille said that painting over the chrome was easy. He just keyed the chrome section in with a decent sandpaper prior to painting and it worked a treat. you should have no bother with the silver paint Jase.

Roy, that looks excellent

I like the badgeless grill but it I always think it looks odd sometimes, like theres something missing.

Think I'll be going down this route :)

 I'm already nicely pally with my local bodyshop so will think of that next time I'm around his neck of the woods..... with a working car

@James : Cheers. The badgeless grille started to look stuck on and odd to me too. Rich1068 has a blacked out grille which is where I got the inspiration from. Looks much better without the chrome IMO. Well pleased with it.

@Jason : I'd like to see how it looks all silver. How's the wiring going?

:finger::D Painting a grille silver will be a doddle in comparison.

Can I have your Milotec one then :)

You can have it for

ur cars looking lush buddy!

Oh go on then.... I'll PM you in a mo :)

BTW the new grill looks rather funky aswell :)

Nice

And is it just me or did I seem to start a new trend with painting grille surrounds colour-code? Because as far as I remember, when I did mine, nobody else had 'em done :D

It is the one reason I'd wanna change mine - I personally hate the chrome surround junk.

It is different on a car that has chromed door handles, then it looks like it's supposed to be there (and then it looks good, seen a few on site, think it was a red one in particular).

If I wanted to paint the surround black, what's the easiest way to turn that round 'quickly' - I'd have to do it during a working day, come in early, sand and spray (?) do another spray a bit later, that kinda thing?

Better you get it done at the dealer, they'll use the same coding on your grille that's on your car.

Does look very nice that mate. I'm not too keen on those Milotec Grilles.

I want to remove the Fabia badge from the back of mine and just go with the VRS but I've not had the balls yet.

Stu

Removing Fabia from the back is dead easy - Dental floss between letter & body, it doesnt scratch, altho there will be some remnants of glue, found the best way of cleaning is WD40 a soft cloth and a bit of time, depending on whats been left behind.

Thanks Steve - Might give it a go then.

Since fitting my new grille, I have been able to travel at vastly higher speeds without fear of prosecution. The cops attention doesn't seem to be drawn as there is a lack of shiney chrome ironmongery attached to the front of the car!!!

With thanks to Rich1068 for help and advice

I'm blushing

Err. No :D
