Does the new Seat Leon offer superior value for money now?

Featured Replies

I have put in a request for quotes with 3 dealers here in Ireland for :-

Seat Leon ST Fr 150CR DSG

with   Seat sound system

         Alcantara seats

         Winter pack

         Panoramic Sunroof

The standard spec on the car in Ireland is fantastic, the full LED light package is included. I know it's not the 184ps engine (not available with DSG in Ireland) and it will only have the Torsion beam rear suspension but a similarly specced Octy3 is out of my price range.  Fingers crossed!!!!

The FR should have uprated multilink (i.e. Golf) rear suspension on 150BHP and above, so both the 150 / 184 units should have it!

  • No, Im pretty sure on the FR you get the half leather sports seats as standard. The £400 option is to have alcantara and leather sports seats (so the cloth basically gets replaced with alcantara) and

  • Having just driven the Leon from UK to Germany (7 hours +) I didn't find the seats to be that bad at all - firm but comfortable. The bolsters are more prominent than in the new VRS, but all of the adj

  • Hmm, styling wise, im quite a fan tbh.

I hope you're right but I think it is only cars above 150hp

Yeah I thought it was on cars above 150BHP. In normal driving it won't make any difference anyway. Done nearly a thousand miles in my FR184 and averaged just over 50mpg with alot of that being stuck in traffic on the motorway, so the stop/start does save a lot of fuel

  • 3 weeks later...

I Picked up my 6 month old Seat Leon 1.2 TSI SE yesterday and my first impressions are it's one of the best cars I have driven. The 1.2 TSi engine pulls well and economy is good on my all A road 28 mile drive to and from work... previously had a Kia Cee'd Diesel which in all honesty was dull and before that I had 2 Skoda Fabia estates both 1.9TDi(pd100). Being back in a petrol car after 8 years of Diesels is a bit strange though but where I live petrol is nearly 7 pence/l dearer than Petrol.

I had a Golf Mk7 rental with that engine for a few days, it's an amazing little engine.

One step closer now. Blackwater Motors of Fermoy have offered me the best deal so far. I am amazed the difference in the deals between the garages I have been to, €2000 between best and worst!!!!

£3560 off my ideal spec on drive the deal! The more I compare it to rivals, the more I'm convinced it offers outstanding value. :)

Whats the waiting time like on the Seat?

The 2 are very very close for me, and if as increasingly appears to be looking to be the case Im going to wait 6 months for the VRS but far less for the Seat that could seriously swing it....

dealer is suggesting 12 weeks for a fully specced 1.4TSi ST but tbh I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

180bhp 1.8 tsi FR, took from first week in April and was delivered around last week of October!

Not sure if they have improved it yet?

In Ireland, the dealers are telling me 8 weeks from order.
