octavia original car radio stream draining battery

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to this forum and would appreciate some help solving a battery drain down problem I have with my Skoda Octavia 2008 diesel.

When the ignition is off there is about a 0.6 amp draw on the battery. This is not normally a big problem with regular use but it has been a real pain every time we go on holiday and leave the car in the airport. It has now, I guess, ruined a battery which is only 3 years old and I have just had to replace. It was flattening the battery overnight.

With the AAs help I managed to isolate the drain to the car stereo cd system. It is fitted with the original (I presume?) Car Radio Stream with CD stacker in the boot. Is there an easy fix to stop it flattening the battery? Other than just removing the fuse?

As you can probably tell I am no mechanic but would appreciate not having to take this problem to the garage and paying a fortune for someone to not solve the problem!

Any advise welcome...

It's a very common issue with the stream units. One of the causes was the eject keeps triggering on the CD drive keeping it powered up. There were some flash updates for them but most just required a new unit which got updated to the later versions.

Welcome.
