Automatic windscreen heating?

Featured Replies

Picked up my vrs estate tdi yesterday. Noticed in the climate setup settings there is a tick box for automatic windscreen heating. The manual does not appear to mention this. Does anyone know when this would automatically work?

Cheers

Question is by selecting it does it do anything :wonder:

On the early Yeti's there was a tick box for some function (forget exactly what) but it was a 'ghost' from possibly the VW brand range and did nothing when you tried to activate it.

Hi plumber. I have activated it but upto now its not done anything. I was wondering if it somehow knew if the windscreen was iced up or misty. However then why not have the rear screen and mirrors automatic. In the manual it refers to the auxillary heater which uk spec does not get but not to the automatic windscreen heater

Maybe a outside temp indication triggers it :wonder:

Need to hopefully wait a while for it to get a little cooler or take a road trip to northern Norway :giggle:

Mine doesn't have this....

Have to say I've not noticed it either.

Air con setup just has the option for "effect" as in strong etc.

Do you have the winter pack?

Yes i have winterpack. On mine press setup, then press on the cogs for settings and on the last option it has automatic heated windscreen?? Strange option as its only a button press to put the screen on anyways. It seems to be there in lieu of the auxillary heater option if you look in the manual

I've got winter pack and seen no such setting

Can anyone else with a heated windscreen please check to see if they have this?

Not on mine either

No I don't have this just the option got automatic air recirc

*for automatic air recirc. To add I have heated windscreen, seats, washer jets.

I remember on my old Ford C-Max the heated screen would come on automatically when started at <4 degree c.

Ive got heated screen on my octavia, I'll have a look when the kids go to bed.

Is it something to do with the humidity sensor??

Doesn't appear to be on mine

My Focus CC automatically fires up the heated windscreen and heated rear screen if the temperature is below a certain level when I start the engine.

It's actually a bit of a nuisance because my car is garaged so I never need it first thing in the morning!

Im sure I have that setting, but like you was not 100% on its function.

What car?

If you update your profile we can see what model you have.

Good idea.
