A near disaster

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Well a couple of months into the vRS ownership and still really happy with the car.

Anyway driving back from Glasgow last week when from under the car in front appears some rubbish. I ignore it a split second later the rubbish stands up in the road! It was a lorry ratchet (what I thought was rubbish was the frayed end). Too late to react and on a busy single carriage way it went under the tyre and we heard a couple of bumps as the wheel kicked it up under the car.

We pulled over and checked the wheel and the tyre - phew all good

Look under the car and well see pic. post-105365-0-21276900-1383303013_thumb.jpg

Anyone tell me how easy this panel is to replace and if I can get one off any scrapped Mk2? If not and has to be a vRS where could I get one from? Is it just a case of unscrewing the old one and replacing the new one? Not sure I want the winter salt washing about under the car!

Also do my mpg sound about right? Glasgow - Hull (cruising at 75 - 80) 37.5mpg day to day commute in heavy traffic 24 - 28mpg?urban light traffic 32mpg? Not much experience with 2ltr turbo engines so not sure if this is ok? Its a dsg which I know costs a few more mpg.

All help appreciated!

Dan

These underfloor panels just un-bolt,i dont know if standard octvia's have them or just vrs models.

Don't be scared to ask Skoda for a price, you might be surprised, the plastic undertray front to back one side on a Scout is a whopping £33, If its like the scout there is a separate little bit one at the front, I think that was an extra 3 or 4 £

Your MPG's seem about right.

The panel did its job then! they are dead easy to replace
