Alloy refurbishment/repair

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I just had a little incident with a kerb due to a very special person thinking they were driving in America.

Does anybody know if there are any good alloy refurbishment places in or near to Morecambe, and how much do they usually charge?

Is it worth getting it refurbed because my mk3 octavia vrs will be ready shortly but I don't know how much the dealer will take off for the kerbed alloy.

Thanks for any info,

Jack

Ahhh, well then maybe say it's happened and see what happens, after all they can get it done cheaper with their mates rates etc etc. If they do take money off just make sure it's not taking the you know what.

Went to the skoda garage and they said they would just knock 50 off the trade in price. Is that about right?

That's nearer the top end of what these mobile  lads in a van  charge.

£35/40 is about the norm., per wheel.

I'd have kept my mouth shut tbh, as I'm sure they won't be telling you if there is any damage on your new motor, and believe me when I tell you that it would make you scream if you saw some of the damage I witness in my job on brand new cars that they 'hope' to get away with.

Not so much damaged alloys, but ALWAYS check for dashboard damage where the spotty oink has usually thrown the trade plates on whilst he goes to put a fivers worth in for you.

Both bumpers, all over, as these cars are usually RAMMED into the tightest of spaces, and quite often parked 'by sound'

Bottoms of the door pads where they've been kicked open too.

Watched in disbelief (almost) the other day at a Renault/ Nissan garage as a valeter ragged and spun the wheels on a brand new Qausqai.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I have been to a few repair shops today. Quoted £60 from smart alloy from Lancaster.

I wouldn't of told the dealer usually but he is a close family friend. Hopefully in return he will be honest with any inperfections with the new car :)

It will have a full inspection when I receive it :)
