  • Hi all, pleased to announce that problem solved, no more buzzing. Rainworth Skoda found that it was the ambient temperature sensor relay that was reverberating when the actuator was active. They found

  • The best solution is to get rid of the bloody awful thing!

  • It's the sound generator under windshield by the firewall. It vibrates the heck out of you chassis to sound "sporty". I agree it's a crap idea!

Im the same the fact its the fourth time back to dealer is annoying aswell

Did they give any indication as to what the rattle might be?

Have you anything aftermarket attached to windscreen I.e taxi disc holders/phone mounts etc?

If you feel the windscreen with the back of your hand when sound actuator is at loudest setting you can feel the entire windscreen vibrate. (It's meant to do this) My rich brook tax disc holder rattled badly as a result of these vibrations. A bit of tape and problem solved.

Just an idea to check.

Thats good thinking and thank you for the suggestion however i don't only the standard tax disc holder.

Its sound like its coming from the door speakers but as some people rudely suggest that this is not possible so i presume its fed in the footwell and it could be the unit itself faulty.

nothing attached to my windscreen, for me the noise is comming from directly in the middle of the dashboard which is where the actuator is attached so its obviously comming from the gizmo itself, perhaps the mounting?

I've got a rattle on my week old tdi vrs but I think it's actually the door trim, I also have the faulty headlight washers too, so looks like this one will be heading back to skoda too..

I don't have anything aftermarket.my rattle is definitely coming from the top centre of the dashboard.

rattle on my VRS  was on the seat adjuster on the side of the passenger seat - easily rectified - check there first before returning to dealers

Sweet Jesus! People aren't being rude, they're trying to help you by telling you the facts which you just refuse to except!

Calm down, i do Accept it, i just don't recall being told before this thread which you seem to keep going on and on and on and on about. Im just stating what i hear and where i thought it was coming from.

hi All, car still at the dealer. Skoda are still working on a solution to this but have asked for the sound generator speaker to be replaced from a demo model that doesn't have the fault to see if that sorts it out otherwise longer wait!

Hi,

Thanks for the update, keep us informed hope it gets sorted.

Rob

Took the car into the dealer on Saturday and they're also not sure. Will need to leave the car with them for a few days in the near future.

If anyone gets a resolution can you post it on as I may not need to leave the car if they know what to start looking at.

Should be picking up tomorrow.they have replaced the sound actuator speaker to get rid of the buzzing, delay has been no available replacement part. In the end they have swopped it with the speaker on the managers car! Will get back to everyone once I pick up and confirm problem solved

Brilliant, i hope its cured for you. I am going to phone the dealer also for a different issue and will express my concern and see what they come up with

That's great, at least it could be a starting point with mine, hopefully it's cured your one.

Mine does it too, terrible vibration sound which appears to come from the sunglasses holder in the roof, only does is at high revs but for me it does it just as loud in normal as it does sport.

This along with the sticky headlamp washers is going to have me take a trip to the dealer when i get some spare time.

Back to the point that introducing additional vibrations to the cabin/chassis, when a host of engineers tried to make it as solid as possible, is an utterly stupid thing to do! If they'd at least done it the way BMW did it with the M5 and just use the speakers...

Bad news, no solution yet and car in dealers for another 24hrs

Why don't you ask them to simply remove it all together? Do you really want to keep it?

Id quite like to keep it in my car if they come up with a solution otherwise turn it off

Hi TudorM; I like Robfab would like to keep it if it can be resolved....... UPDATE....Had a late call from the dealer this afternoon that, after further work today, they have sorted the problem but want to spend tomorrow morning testing to make sure. Apparently Skoda have been watching the dealer to see if they resolve and wanted to be kept informed. Sounds (sorry for the pun!) that it is a recurrent problem that Skoda now know about. Hopefully my last post tomorrow on this to everyone. Will find out exactly what was done and will post.
