  • The best solution is to get rid of the bloody awful thing!

  • It's the sound generator under windshield by the firewall. It vibrates the heck out of you chassis to sound "sporty". I agree it's a crap idea!

Let us know how you get on.

Will do.

Just tried mine. Was my normal glasses rattling.

Tried getting my hand in there today, no chance without taking the wipers off....

So anyway...tonight while driving i did a little experimenting and found pressing the module with the sunglasses holder, reading lights and camera/wing mirror assembly it stopped the rattling under acceleration. Not sure how they will fix it.

I have the exact same issue....but only hear it when in Sport mode and the sound actuator is at its loudest. I worked my way around the trim pushing upwards and something clicked into place. Its now 70% better but still not perfect.

I'm releuncant to get anyone to look at it as in my experience, when things like this are taken apart, they rattle more.

Good luck.

Maybe try and turn it down a little bit with VCDS and see if that cures it?

Hi TudorM; I like Robfab would like to keep it if it can be resolved....... UPDATE....Had a late call from the dealer this afternoon that, after further work today, they have sorted the problem but want to spend tomorrow morning testing to make sure. Apparently Skoda have been watching the dealer to see if they resolve and wanted to be kept informed. Sounds (sorry for the pun!) that it is a recurrent problem that Skoda now know about. Hopefully my last post tomorrow on this to everyone. Will find out exactly what was done and will post.

The rattle for me was as described above. Fix lasted 6 weeks then reoccurred. Car is back in next week for a new temperature sensor module

I noticed a few people have had a rattle problem caused by the sound generator, mine is due to go in next week for the dealer to try and fix. If you've had the problem and it's been resolved (without disconnecting it) can you give me some ideas as to where they might start to look?

The rattle from mine is coming from the centre top of the dashboard.

Mines all sorted, was due to the sunglasses unit on the roof rattling, the dealer i believe used some sticky backed felt in and around the unit and has solved this issue completely,

My rattle was a loose external temperature sensor module. It was replaced and problem solved. This is registered with SUK as a fix so dealer should investigate this.

This shouldn't be a problem if you order the pano roof because you lose the sunglass unit, I'm not complaining though!

Just mentioned it because I don't think it's documented.

Has there been any updates on this issue. I bought my ex demo vrs estate a couple weeks ago and had a rattle in the door around 2000 - 2500 rpm mainly when you take your foot off the accelerator. It went back, door stripped and I was informed that it was the window regulator. It did stop but now it has come back worse. Also Tony d my car came from rainworth so could be the ex demo you were taking about. I don't seem to have any sound difference when in sport mode I wonder if the sound generator was ever replaced?

Mine still rattles a bit in sports mode, central dash location. Checked around the generator unit yesterday and nothing appears loose there. Really don't want a dealer stripping the dash out. Might just disconnect it.

Mine does it anorl..  Petrol vRS. To the dealers armed with this info.

Hi all, pleased to announce that problem solved, no more buzzing. Rainworth Skoda found that it was the ambient temperature sensor relay that was reverberating when the actuator was active. They found that the sensor is simply clipped in place into a hole near the wipers but it had a degree of movement. They replaced the clip with one that was more robust and stopped the movement......no more buzz!

They have reported the fix to Skoda so should be available to other dealers. Once they found the problem was a 20minute fix. Good luck to everyone getting theirs fixed.

Hi All, as there is still people having problems though it might be useful to remind people of what fixed mine. 4 months and 5k with no further problems

Rob, I don't have a sunglass holder, as I have a sunroof, but I will try and locate that temp sensor relay. That does seem to be the area where the buzzy rattle occurs in mine.

Mine is just back from the dealers. The plastic scuttle panel below the windscreen was rattling and also a cable tie for the wiring to the sound generator.

I think I forgot to update on mine.

The dealers pulled the whole think apart any couldn't find anything. But that was about 2 or 3 weeks ago now and it's not come back.

I had mine in to Aberdeen 2 weeks ago and asked them to disconnect.  They have programmed the sound level to zero, which essentially turns it off.  All sorted and they have informed Skoda Technical.  A waste of time gimic.  Would rather they had cruise as standard like the old model.

Resurrecting older post here but I've got a MY15 RS with 200 kms and I have two rattles from different places wondering if hey are both connected to the sound generator.

The first rattle happened from the first 50 kms and came from driver door just below window sill or around seatbelt adjust (it's hard to tell). It is like a high frequency buzz where is acceleration or deceleration between 5kms and 50kms, it seems to go once you pick up speed. Very annoying as its in my ear level almost. I originally thought it was related to tint guy taking off doors trim but then I read some ppl experience same noise.

The second is more worrying but seems to be coming from same area as sound unit. It sounds more mechanical like I thought did they leave the suspension blocks on or is there a tool clanking around. It was from the driver firewall but particular

Y towards pedals. Not loud but can be heard if radio and AC are low - will take it to dealer but hoping on experiences or opinions.

Anyone know how to remove the centre dash speaker cover or the centre air vents on a VRS?

My almost brand new car is rattling like crazy when the sound actuator is on, and is driving me nuts.

I've pinpointed the location to be just behind the air vents and under the centre dash speaker. My suspicion is that a plastic clip has come loose and is vibrating when the sound generator is on.

Any help would be much appreciated.
