Tips on preparing my music for Amundsen SD card play back

Featured Replies

Trying to find things to do to pass the time whilst waiting for the arrival of my 2.0 TDI Elegence.  One excellent project I thought would be to update my music in preparation.  I want to put all my music onto an SD card, so would like some advice from those of you who have already gone through this process.  I could wait until it arrives and go through trial and error but where is the fun in that!!

Firstly, I was going to get a 64GB SD card.  Would this size card be OK in the Amundsen?  If too much data is put on the card will this slow it down or will a good Class 10 card cope with the process.

All my music is currently saved in iTunes in a mix of 128 kbps and 256 kbps.  Is it a worthwhile process to update this all to 320kbps to improve sound quality?

Is the process of transferring the music files as simple as copying and pasting from iTunes Media File to the SD Card?  If so, they are currently .m4a files, are these compatible?

Finally, is there anything I need to do to ensure that album artwork appears?

Any advise on the above would be great plus any other tips and tricks learnt along the way.

Thanks in advance.

Interested in other answers. Here is what i have done:

64gb card with about 40Gb of music on it. I bought on price and it is plenty fast enough.

My music is mix of mp3, apple, different bit rates, and it all sounds fine in the car, even nice and clear with the volume all the way up to 11 :)

Copy and paste the contents of itunes music folder, i.e. Not the folder, the artist folders. This just saves having an extra click once it is in the car.

My album art is on random cd's and tracks, and I have got used to it. If this thread sorts an easy fix I will implement, but it sounds like a pain and i look at the road not the Amundsen screen :)
