Another VRs delayed!

Featured Replies

As I'd had no information from my dealer, I thought I'd ring & find out if there had been any changes to my build week, I think I wish I hadn't bothered. I ordered at the end of August for a mid-Jan delivery as I'm currently in a cast after an op on my foot. Got a build week of 48, it slipped to 49 around 3 weeks ago & I foolishly thought I was safe!! Big mistake. I now have no build week at all! Not a very happy person at all, as I would guess that my mid-Jan delivery won't be happening. If they can't manage to deliver for mid-Jan, which would have given them 4.5 months, I'm tempted to cancel the order & look elsewhere.

Problem with that is I really fancy the Vrs & what would I replace it with? The though of starting the process again isn't very appealing.

It's shocking mate, I find I comical that there's no system in the factory, it's just luck of the draw. I'm going through the same thing, orderd 20th sep and still no build week!

Feel empathy for you both. In an age of computer ordering and processing if they can task their suppliers to deliver on a just in time basis there really is no excuse for not being able to give customers an accurate delivery date

phone Skoda uk ..!! Ask them.. dealers are a bit slow giving out Info..  you ordered yours few days before i did, my build date 50

Is it something to do with particular options that are hard to come by?  I ordered a vRS petrol estate at the beginning of August: it was due to be built in week 42 and slipped to 46 then back to 44...anyway it arrived at the dealer last week and I should be able to pick it up on Wednesday.  I only ordered Amundsen, cruise control, colour Maxidot and a spare wheel, which may be why it has come through without some of the delays others are experiencing.

And I wasn't even in a hurry - the current vRS is going like a bomb and I'll be sorry to see it go. For several reasons, although the DSH has been completely reliable, I'm replacing it with a manual, and I hope I won't find myself regretting it....

Its not very good, when build dates shift around , then drop off entirely. Mine has done the same. Getting a bit fed up with the not knowing and have considered cancelling . The chap from Skoda did say it was due to supply availability of the gemini alloys and the lane assist hardware.

We have been talking about this on the other thread on ordering.

If anyone hears any firm news from Skoda that they have sorted the supply problems, please shout up.

You ordered the end of August but when was it accepted by the factory, did the dealer have any quota left when you ordered?

My VRS was ordered around the same time with all the problem options and it was built last week.

Mines been screwed by dealer quota. i think they should be obliged to inform you! still not got a build date or accepted by factory. still, a 14 plate is a real possibility!

SUK are instigating a tracking system, said it was long overdue, just not till next year and... wait for it.... delays have been due to the factory!!!

incidentally, girl on the phone was great, but did say she had been waiting for 6 months to get her citigo order accepted by factory, but that it finally had a build date.

I dont uderstand what is going on at Skoda. I ordered my VRS 7th of November and it has a week 2 build week.

Not sure if it will remain week 2 though.

I don't understand how it's acceptable to give a build week for one car which was ordered a month after another? At least without giving a good reason! It seems to be some options claimed to cause delays, but in reality even those with no options seem to go into a lottery, and not just a few days, but months. Has Skoda ever satisfactorily answered this?

If they were upfront and it was something logical like they "we make them in batches and we're doing blue ones at the moment" or whatever it is, then surely their customer satisfaction would improve dramatically.

When I see on here a thread discussing two similar cars, ordered similar dates but one gets a massive delay and the other doesn't, I'm just thinking quotas/allocation limits. It's the invisible barrier that messes up your Skoda order.

Always ask your dealer where they are on quotas, at least you'll know and it'll also jog the salesman's memory to go and check, he in all likelihood might not know off the top of his head.

And yes, I fell foul of quotas, ordered 5th August, car not here yet :)

Same boat, Ordered 2nd Sept, on system but no build date, explained to dealer not happy, as a sweetner im now in a loan car until mines delivered.

Just received this from salesman:

"I have just spoken with Skoda and looks as though lead times for the VRS are extended,

They have advised for your order we will be looking at a January 2014 delivery,

I will continue to keep pressuring them"

Ordered early september

Jim told me... my one is leaving the factory 16th Dec, about a week to arrive at dealership.. should get it end Dec, 1st week of Jan

when did you order again baz?

I confirmed the car had been ordered with the Factory and wasn't delayed due to allocation. Mine was done through a fleet dealer for a business purchase.

Not sure if that makes a difference ?

when did you order again baz?

2nd September

2nd September

Ordered my vrs diesel est 16th of September, told 9 to 13 weeks, told today it will be delivered the 6th Jan... An actual date.

Only time will tell.

No, not bothered about a 14 plate, dont see what difference it makes, especially as we might actually keep this one for longer than 3 yrs

My dealer was upfront with me about quotas, I didn't have to ask.

It seems that petrol vrs Estates seem to be but on time of not a week before schedule. This has happened with me and a friend who ordered on the same day. I went for vrs estate diesel, he went for same but petrol. His comes next week ahead of schedule, no build week for me yet. Ordered 13th Sept :(

It all a bit of a mystery and even more of a joke.

This dealer allocation thing does seem to punish the customer for having a successful dealer!

Some of you might be aware that my vRS is being replaced. The new car was ordered at the start of October and it still doesn't have a build date - Bearing in mind this to solve an issue with the car originally supplied and they still can't build it any quicker - due to allocation!

And no, I'm not taking away from those of the lottery waiting list, I very much sympathise and think we should all get our cars when we were told they'd be here.

If other countries/dealers are selling as many as they should then give their allocation to those that can!

I dont believe Petrol has any preference, its just a lottery, my petrol ordered 2nd Sept and still no build date (no sunroof or ACC)

What still confuses me, when ordered, Skoda only making estates due to production issues with the hatch, at the time I was informed that hatches wouldnt be made/delivered until late 2013/early 2014 (not an issue as I wanted an estate), but hatches have been delivered for the past month.  Are Skoda producing hatches for customers and dealers and putting the 2 fingers up-to customers who ordered estates?
