Where does your main beam point?

Featured Replies

Can't say I've noticed before (and this may be related to the recent accident repair - or not) but whilst dipped beam seems to point in the prescribed place, the main beam seems to be "odd".

When going to main beam, I get a lighting up of the road ahead (poor, but that's another can of worms) but one of the main beams seems very high - in fact only seems to light up overhead bridges.  Is this right?  Unless the beams are crossing it looks to be the NS main beam that is going to be troubling aircraft overhead rather than lighting the way ahead..

That seems odd, because you shouldn't be able to aim the main beam separately from the dip.

Exactly...

It might be worth checking that the bulb is seated correctly in the holder.

I've had that a couple of times when buying secondhand cars with odd beam patterns.

This is the car back from the repairer near side damage.

Is it looking OK, & as new?

Full beam just needing set properly.

Have they now got matching bulbs in on the nearside damaged side and on the Drivers side.

Not an odd new one on the Accident Damaged side.

Have you tried the Adjustment from the drivers seat, to raise and lower the lights and see how both sides are reacting?

ie, On Dip where it should be to the kerb side, and full beam straight ahead.

??Were the lights set for you when abroad at the time of the accident.?

EDIT,

I have now read the other thread on you getting the car back.

Bad me; no, I didn't flick the Tourist lever in the headlamp unit (only remembered when a good few km into France, so dropped the beam down on the headlamp wheel; both beams dropped).

Beam position on dip looks fine - where it should be for UK, anyway.  Will flick the tourist lever before heading home tonight - and see if there's any change.

As for the repair damage, good job it seems.  Possible slight colour match issue where the new bumper meets the old wing although can't see it wing to bonnet or wing to door (or wing to bumper) on the NSF.  I gather metallics can be a swine to match as the "angle of dangle" of the gun can alter it a shade or two?  Nothing to complain about though.
