Heated Windscreen glare at night..

Featured Replies

Nope never had it. Used to it via my job.

You will have to get used to it, it's that or get rid of the car. There's quite simply nothing that you can do about it.

Once you've had a heated front screen, you don't go back.   Picture the 17 year old office admin girlie getting into her rusty, 15 year old Ford Ka on a January morning in temperatures of -10C.

Searching on the internet I found an old reddit post where an user reported a similar problem. He suspected that the wax the dealer used to wash the car might be the cause. Unfortunately he didn't post back any solution.

He added a picture (I attached it also). My windshield looks crystal clear during the day, no sign of any wax, so I am confused.

For me is hard to believe that a car manufacturer can build cars with this problem and call that 'normal' (in my opinion it is a problem, not just a thing to get use to it).

For example, it is impossible to see the driver of the red car (to understand his intentions), the glare obstructs my vision.

Try using some vinegar on a clean cloth or failing that get a lemon and squeeze the juice onto a clean cloth and wipe both inside and out with it.

That way you will have a grease free screen and see if it makes any difference. If not then you have the two choices.

1. Learn to live with it.

2. Get rid of the car.

I've had it at night where the wipers will glaze over the screen, especially going under a street light.

I just used some white spirit to strip off any 'gunk' which may have been on the screen and then washed it thoroughly will my usual soap and water. I clayed the screen, give it another rinse over and then dried it. To finish I applied my usual TurtleWax Clearvue (the old stuff which got pulled because of the VOC level) and now all is good.

No troubles since doing that. Even stopped the wipers from jumping.
