Mudflaps for vrs estate

Featured Replies

Well i was on the verge of buying these. I thought it was worth it, being only £11 just over (£9 exc VAT). But then i got to the checkout page, and had the shock of my life. Over £12 postage? No, hold on. The tax is now coming to over £4. So they have added over £2 tax onto the postage cost. Over £14 postage for an item that originally costs £11? I know this is the country of Ryanair, but surely not everyone has to take after them?!! Sorry, but they are no longer worth the money. Anyway, id refuse to purchase just on a point of principle. I can send parcels to New Zealand for half that amount.

  • I fitted front and rear mudflaps to my vRs estate today. Ordered them from Ireland last week and they were delivered by Yodel on Monday. They're straightforward to fit. Two screws to be removed (hex

No problem. Buy them from a UK dealer, or even your local dealer, then postage will be free.

Steve, Miss Vienna has an estate, so hold on ordering until she has botched hers, then you will know if they happily fit both types!!!!

Botched! Huh! Charming lol

I was never going to get any at dealer prices either, as its just not worth it. Only looked at this Irish site as it seemed good value. Not any more though.

Cheers James... Thanks for that.

Could still do with straight on rear shot if anyone can take one of their car? And if it's white, that would be perfect!...

My vrs Estate is white and mud flaps fitted, I'll get you a square on pic from the rear today. IMO they do fill the gaps nicely and make the motor appear lower/squat

One person advertises them and shows how cheap they are

I am glad I was able to share something of value to fellow forum members...I should of asked for commission!!

Just put the rear ones on my Combi. On the driver's side, 2 screws to undo on existing cowling/rear valance and also a 'popper' lower down. But on the passenger side, the lower 'popper' was absent, maybe it was either never fitted, or it's come loose. Either way, I replaced it with a short stainless steel nut and bolt with washers.

Dead easy to fit, haven't tried the front yet, but that's going to require some minor drilling.

Hmmm.  I don't mind so much with heavy or bulky parts but they also charge over £12 to post a touch up paint. Now that really is taking the guiness.

I'll look forward to that too. Thanks.

Ironically combined my delivery of Touch up with flaps at no extra cost. From the Irish Skoda Supplier.

I think its fair to say, if delivering to the UK, they make up for the cheap prices by adding on stupid postage costs. Unless they take the worst case scenario, and charge the same postage for everything.

They may put there part prices up soon then-supply and demand!!

Any photos yet... I'm really interested in seeing how wider they make the car look...

Will get a decent pic in daylight tomorrow, took a couple there on my phone in garage but poor quality, how do I post pics and anyway if on mobile device?

Well I fitted rear mud flaps to my vrs estate today. Drivers side I could do fine without removing the wheel, other side I had more trouble as there was no third hole there and I struggled with getting the screw to go through into the little metal clip. So ended up taking the wheels off.

Doing the fronts tomorrow and decided its much easier to just do it with the wheels off (doesnt exactly take long to take them off / put them back on) but gives a lot more space to work in. Esp if drilling lol.

Quite glad i never ordered those rear mud flaps now. The car already has rears!!!! Its fronts i dont have. Definitely not putting fronts on if it involves drilling.

LOL the vrs doesnt have any. Hence me putting rears on ;)

Why on earth were you thinking or ordering rears if your car already has them?! Think its on vrs that doesnt have any rears.

I changed my mind as I decided even I can manage to drill a single hole (either side). I'd rather know the mud flaps are 100% as secure as possible than risk them potentially coming off

Could you take some close ups when you are putting on the front flaps? Especially where drilling is required? From what I read earlier, you are not drilling through metal, right? I am now getting quite tempted ...

Many thanks

Yeah sure I can.

No as I understand it the drilling is only through plastic. Having given the inside of the wheel arches a quick clean today - immediately behind the front wheels is just plastic, where as at the rear is more of a thick felt type thing. I guess im just going to be drilling through that aforementioned plastic.

But yes will try and remember to take some pics tomorrow :)

Don't forget, measure twice, drill once. ;)

Thanks Neily :P

Cookie Monster- Think about it. I had it in my head that my car had fronts. Dont know why, i just did. Then when clambering under the rear of the car this afternoon checking my shock absorbers, I suddenly remembered it was rears i already had. Sort of makes it a bit obvious when you knock your head on them whilst trying to bend round behind the wheel!!

Lets just put it down to having a blond moment. Thankfully expensive postage saved my bacon!

Or in the Cookie Monsters case. Measure once, eat a cookie, measure a second time, eat another cookie, then finally drill! Mopping up the crumbs whilst drilling hehe
