Hello - new owner here

Featured Replies

Hello.

Newbie here. Picked up a silver VRS estate. 99k, totally standard, everything works, few scuffs to the front bumber and a couple of scuffs on the NS wing. Runs really well. Pretty happy with it so far!

Sold an A3 Sportback 2T quattro S-line to upsize. The mk1 fits the bill to a T! Always liked them.

There's some pretty bad knocking from the front so I think this is the FARB. Not sure if it is shock or anything worse but is going in on Wednesday to get a check and fix.

Pros and cons to putting something like Superpro's vs the OEM parts? This is just a get to work and transport my daughter around.

Sure I'll have more questions!

Going to do some pretty minor stuff - new badges, fix wheels, plastic dip the grill. Oh and the rear roof plastic lining on the NS quarter has come away so that's first in the list.

Cheers!

Slax

Hello and welcome

Welcome to the club Sir :-)

I wont comment on the upgrades given im a dirty diesel burner, but i spose it'll depend on what you want from the car :)

Coming from a Quattro a3 you should have got the 4x4 octy :D

ARB bushes will cause knocking as will drop links, if it's just a tool for running round they poly bushing not worth it. Once you start modding its a slippery slope!!

Welcome to the forum!  Common consensus on here seem to be that the best first mod is fitting a rear anti-roll bar.  Some Skoda dealers sell the badges and wheel centres on eBay buy it now posted for the same price or cheaper than local dealers.  There are a couple of threads on here about fitting the new style Skoda badges too if that's your thing.

Anything you need to know, someone on here will know the answer!  It's a great forum, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Thanks for info. Knocking noise seems to be getting worse. Going in on Wednesday so keen to get fixed.

Sounds like ill just get OEM bushes. The Edinburgh roads are horrendous and then there's the cobbles! Will look into the RARB.
