Buyer's Remorse?! Other Missed Options on their new cars?!

Featured Replies

Can those who has already taken delivery of a Octavia III wished they had ticked the box or boxes from the options list?

Conversely any option or options which had been selected that you think now is a waste of money!

Would like to hear the owners opinions, possibly a refine of my option list while I am still waiting for the build and delivery.

Thank you

G

My spec is this:

* TSi Manual with Red stitching

* Black Pack

* Adaptive Cruise

* Canton

* Sunset Glass

* Heated washer nossels

* Bluetooth+

* Columbus Nav

* KESSY

* Park Assist

* 4 year warranty

Only regret is I didn't get the spare wheel.....and perhaps I should bumped the warranty to 5 years.

The boot nets, at least with the variable floor, the lower hook points are covered, unless I'm missing something.

Could have saved a few quid there. Apart from that I have all the options I think except crew protect and mitsumi, I couldn't be happier.

Kessy is a must, that will never get old. I had a A6 before and I could never understand the ergonomics of fishing for the remote to unlock, then putting the key back in your pocket to use the push button start.

Tdi vrs estate

Sunset glass

Winter pack

Spare wheel

Admunsen

Mitsumi

Colour maxidot

I got admundsen and wished I'd got Columbus as admunsen doesn't do anything like what it says it can in the manual (video, flack, exfat or ntfs formatted media).

I'm glad I specced the £100 mitsumi as my only option now to get video is to buy a mitsumi cable and ipod classic. But for the cost of admundsen, mitsumi, cable and ipod I could almost have fitted Columbus.

I don't regret any of the options and there's no extras available that I regret not getting except maybe chrome roof rails.

There are options I would have liked, leather. Canton, kessy etc but they don't reduce my enjoyment of the car.

Just about 4 times a week I curse Skoda for not offering electric memory seats.

I took everything except full leather and heated rear seats on my VRS. With winter coming, I regret not taking the heated rear seats. Judging by the quality of the partial leather the seats have, I'm glad I didn't go for the full leather option though. That would be a waste of money, the regular cloth is perfect as is.

Every other option is great. KESSY and the power boot take the car interaction to another level, comfort wise. The panoramic sunroof is awesome and my kid loves it. Canton sounds great and the Columbus' screen is excellent. ACC combined with the DSG is a delight on motorways, makes for an excellent cruiser. Performance from the TSI engine is amazing, the mpg is awful hehe.

I really like this car...  :giggle:

Standard manual SE hatch plus spare wheel and front mud flaps and I happy with the spec - just about the only thing I would add in hindsight is the arm rest/jumbo box - my previous mk2 had it and I do miss it sometimes. None of the other options were a must for me - at a push I might have been tempted by the panoramic sunroof but decided against it on cost.

Iv changed the spec for mine three times now so I threw the brochure away,tdi vrs estate that started off white with cruise spare wheel and black pack

Then it became meteor grey with the above spec,then I saw a fabia reaction on a gloomy wet day,and thought how dull the colour looked so.....

It became rally green like my mk2,also added sunset glass and colour maxidot,so thats the final spec,its getting built wk3,just wished the demo had canton,hope I wont regret not including it,just wait now for march 1st

Of course it's all personal choice & what suits you & your budget. I am more than happy with the Elegance spec,but did get a spare,cornering fogs, front mud flaps,cill protectors,boot mat & freebie boot nets. I would have liked front parking sensors, but as you only get those as part of the park assist package I decided against. As a precaution I took out an extended warranty just in case the DSG became a problem.

I don't do a high mileage but had the car since Sept & delighted with it.

I do regret not adding the electric boot openning, but only when other half slams it shut.

i wised I'd have spec'd the canton and heated screen but I couldnt afford them so will have to do with warm water to melt the ice.  The normal sounds system is ok as long as you have decent mp3's but im sure the canton would have been loads better.

I ordered plenty of extras on mine, but didn't go for the heated wing mirrors as I hadn't noticed them at the time.

I do wonder if I should have had the LED tail lights, but other than taking the first few photos I'd have got very little benefit.

This. Only I'm the one slamming it  :D

Would love the heated windscreen but wasn't possible with TSI. Other than this no regrets whatsoever.

Probably too early to say, but I don't think I missed anything off that I regret.  Sure, I'd love to have ticked every box, but I'm just not loaded enough to do so!

In time I can see me wishing I'd gone for the winter pack/heated screen, but the car is garaged overnight and so this isn't going to be a problem too often.

Amunsden was the only option I nearly ticked on the day I ordered, but it looks like I got a lucky escape there as £500+ for a basic SatNav unit is far too much, especially when most modern Smart Phones have excellent, free, updating nav apps.

Try and stick to a standard spec car and you will not lose the value of those extras that don't add anything to 2nd hand value. You won't miss the extras after a couple of years and the novelty has worn off and start looking for your next car.

I love all the options I ticked, some I don't want to try out (crew protection for example!). Canton is great, mitsumi is good.

Heated seats I've just started using, they are very good only problem with them is it makes me want to deficate whilst driving, mmm nice. ;-)

I love heated seats but I find I can't go any higher than 2 bars.

Endless amusement turning the passengers on though. Childish and very fun - can't wait till summer.

2.0 TDi 150 Elegance estate in Candy White, spare wheel only option.

No remorse whatsoever. Better spec'd than the already pretty well spec'd Mk2 Blackline estate I'll be coming from.

Each to their own, car is a personal thing and options more important to some more than others but I didnt buy an Octavia which in my book is starting to get on the wrong side of the £20k mark to then make it a nearly 30k car with nice to haves (not essentials for me at least) such as winter pack, Kessy, auto tailgate, park assist, xenons, canton etc.......if I were spending that sort of money sorry as good as Skoda is nowadays I'd have bought premium german metal. I decided not to dilute the still reasonable value for money the car offered at its list price, enjoy its already considerable spec uplift from the MK2 and make my finance payments as low as possible....given ive only kept the Blackline 10 months probably just as well!

You've got me thinking now. Do I cancel and rely on my HTC one CoPilot app. Far superior to the Amundsen but with the hassle of holders and wires.

The 1st option anyone should add is the spare wheel.

 POWER BOOT  :think:

Definitely

The 1st option anyone should add is the spare wheel.

Ludicrous - if you're ordering a vRS, why would you want to add .1 of a second to your commute to work by adding unnecessary weight?

No spare wheel for me - I like to live life on the edge.

You could well be living life on the edge of a motorway if you get a puncture & the crappy foam can't mend it.  At least you will have got to where you got the puncture quicker then the guy with a spare in his boot!!!!!!!!

Yeah.. spare wheel is a must. I've been stuck on the side of the road with glue pouring out of my tyre. It means you need a new tyre and a new set of glue when it might have only been a nail that could be repaired. Skoda Rescue (whatever they are called) supplied spare wheels to both my skodas for a brilliant price after they rescued me with a flat. I have ordered space saver for mine, so lighter and you can easily limp to a garage/home.

Heated seats are also important.

I'd just call breakdown and get them to sort it

And I'd just change the wheel. I bet I'd get home first ;-)
