:bump: According to the "top 1000" teams we had the biggest single WU production score total in the team's history - 3380 points - now up to 282 in the rankings! http://statsman.info/folding2stats

Just make sure they sign up to our team! (team 42567)

There is a Unix/Linux version' date=' check the download page on the folding website.[/quote']

There is a linux client although not sure what flavours it runs on, or how to configure it.

The Linux client is only available for the x86 processor architecture, but within that limitation it will run happily on any Linux distribution. Configuration is easy; the first time it is run, it will prompt for details, which it saves in a config file. Subsequent runs just read the config file. You can change the configuration by running it with a "--config" flag. I've written a small wrap-around which runs it as a daemon, so it can be started automatically by a boot-up script.

This aint such a bad start in under 24 hours is it.....

Not such a bad entry into the leaderboard charts- watch out number 1

Anyone know if I can get a 64 bit version of the folding client? My boss has just ordered me the muther of all folding machines ;)

64 bit? Whats that?!

I think with dual processor machines, a client runs on both sides, in tandem. Effectively like two separate desktop setups.

HTH.

I don't think so :( AFAIK clients are only available for x86 (Windows or Linux) and PPC (Mac OS X). See http://folding.stanford.edu/faq.html#misc.version

We're now ranked #279 as a team..

I've just completed my 3rd WU in just over a day since joining, and moved up another 2 places to 39 :)

All good!

I only have my Mesh 1.8ghz machine folding, along with my 2.8 P4 laptop. The more that join in the cause the better though! :)

What machines are some of you using to have 241 points for just 1 Work Unit???

I've only got 201points for 3, and my machines are all P4's in the range of 2.4Ghz upto 2.8Ghz - be interested to know.

Lee

I have made it passed 1000 WU's.

Lee, different projects have different point scores. Chances are you have been allocated a low scoring one to start with, you get varying amounts over time. Some of my recent ones have only been worth 63 points, but I had one finish the other day that was worth 600.

Ok thanks for that  Another workstation (P4 2.8Ghz) just added to "emmerdale" -the farm that folds ;) (thats now 5 pc's with the client on)

Another way I found to increase points score is to check the "allow receipt of work assignments and return of results greater than 5Mb in size", under the Connection tab in the Folding@Home control panel :D

it's me that's got 241 points for 1 WU ;) it took 3 days to do..... but it seems to have been worth it!!

My PC is a bit ancient..... P4 1.6!! But it seems to be doing the job ;)

The current WU must be mega... it's been going 4 days already and still has another 5 to go.... I'm looking forward to that one finishing and pushing me up the ranks a wee bit

The only reasons I can think that I'm getting high scoring WUs are that I'm on 1GB broadband, PC is on 24/7, and I don't actually use my PC that much so F@H is getting almost 'all' of the processing power all the time..... oh yeah, and I enabled the 'files over 5mb' thing too....

Up to 37th spot :D

Up to 37th spot :D

just as well I'm not the competitive type then ;)

mind u, my ONE poor little PC can't hope to outrun someone who's running 4 or 5... or is it even more now??

Hi Pusscat,

TBH i dont even know which comp completed the last wu(to make it 4) thought it was a particular one, only to find out it wasnt.

Running on 3 always, with little or no interuption(espec at w/e's), with a further one (a workmates) with 50/50 usage i guess. Tried it on another only to crash the system..oooops

Looks like i will have two more completed within next 24 hours..approx

Lee

32nd :)

Another PC added today (Sempron 3200, 1G DDR at home). Only taking 2min50sec to complete a frame!

yay... finally finished 2nd WU... and yes it was a biggie.... 2 units done, 841 points!!!

moved me up a bit, am in 32nd now.... wonder how long the next one will take? Only 125 frames this time :)

Just signed up too but I remember running a similar program a year ago that killed my laptop motherboard, oh well, lets see if it happens again.

let's hope it doesn't kill it this time too then! but it looks like some of em on here have been running it for quite some time without any probs

ok.... how long before my score gets included then chaps?? Finished a work unit a bit over an hour ago?? (just before 8pm)

hmmm.... checked again just after midnight... points have gone on now :) so it looks like it takes a couple of hours?? Ah well, it's gonna be another week before I see any more points lol - it's predicting next Monday!

Briskoda currently on 271... set to overtake a couple of others in the wee small hours of today :)

:woohoo:

I think today we had another record spike in the WU production! 3588 score! And the weekly total amount has shot back up to around 45k after recently slumping a bit to around 38k. Onwards and upwards! :D
